Carlos Arenas

Mr. Arenas has managed both small- and large-scale projects involving data preservation, collection, culling, and document review for clients at AmLaw 50 law firms, Fortune 500 companies, and global e-discovery service providers. Mr. Arenas has overseen the preservation and collection of data from email servers, desktops and laptops, file servers, content management systems, instant-messaging systems, mobile phones, and tablets for hundreds of custodians in locations across the globe. Mr. Arenas has managed the culling of terabytes of data, and devised and managed workflows to process, review, and produce documents for hundreds of projects. Mr. Arenas has vast experience in managing data collection and document review across a wide range of e-discovery projects. Some of these projects include managing the collection, processing, and review of 20+ TB from 100+ custodians across three continents, and the production of tens of millions of documents, as part of an investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice; devising and implementing a protocol to filter and review personally identifiable information (PII) contained in collected data in compliance with Swiss data privacy laws as part of pharmaceutical patent-infringement litigation in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey ; managing the collection, processing, and review of 10+ TB of data from 500+ custodians - including the review of more than 100,000 video files from social-media sites - as part of intellectual-property litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Kevin M. Smith

Kevin M. Smith is the Senior Digital Evidence Consultant at Atlantic Data Forensics, a specialized services company that primarily provides digital forensic, electronic data discovery, litigation support, expert testimony, and computer security services for commercial, educational, and governmental clients. Mr. Smith is primarily responsible for assisting investigations, providing digital forensic analysis, delivering written and oral expert testimony, and consulting with clients on the technical details and practical implications of the digital evidence at issue in their matter. Mr. Smith specializes in in-depth forensic analysis of digital media, trial consulting, and providing expert courtroom testimony. Mr. Smith has conducted numerous forensic examinations of digital evidence in support of counter-intelligence and major crimes investigations, providing digital forensic support the United States Army Criminal Investigation Command as well as other law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Secret Service and various counter intelligence agencies. Additionally, Mr. Smith has supervised and conducted felony level investigations that include conducting interviews and interrogations; processing crime scenes; collecting and evaluating evidence; preparing administrative reports; testifying before hearings; conducting surveillance; executing warrants; briefing supported Agents, Commanders, and Staff Judge Advocates regarding computer crimes and digital analysis. Vincent J. Fitzgerald III

Vincent J. Fitzgerald III is a Digital Evidence Consultant at Atlantic Data Forensics, Inc. a specialized services company that primarily provides digital forensic, electronic data discovery, litigation support, expert testimony, and computer security services for commercial, educational, and governmental clients. Mr. Fitzgerald is responsible for forensically collecting digital evidence, forensic analysis of collected data, executing electronic discovery projects, providing consultation to clients and testing of new tools and programs. Mr. Fitzgerald graduated from Champlain College in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Computer Forensics. During his four years Mr. Fitzgerald was an active member of the Computer Forensics Association, a gathering of students and teachers that spent time outside of class to learn more about their field of study. Mr. Fitzgerald also took part in an out of class project where he dedicated roughly fifty hours towards research on a topic of his choosing. He logged the findings in a monthly blog as well as a creating final forensic report detailing all of his results in which he presented, in person to colleagues and friends within the industry. In his career in Computer Forensics Mr. Fitzgerald has already been a part of investigations involving research fraud, copyright infringement, murder and search warrants in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal Service, to name a few. Mr. Fitzgerald has also been involved with matters involving Fortune 50 companies. He is proficient with many of the industry leading forensics and E-discovery programs and equipment. Having performed hundreds of forensic duplications thus far, Mr. Fitzgerald has seen a wide range of desktop and laptop computers as well as many different types of smart phones using the Android, Apple and Blackberry operating systems. Mr. Fitzgerald has provided his expert opinion in the form of a forensic report for the findings uncovered in a matter pertaining to data exfiltration.

William Stumme

Mr. Stumme has over 15 years of digital forensic experience and has performed on-site data acquisitions, data culling, and forensic analysis as part of federal criminal and civil investigations. He has extensive experience in forensically obtaining data from all manner of electronic media, including desktop and laptop computers, servers, mobile phones and tablets, and on-line, cloud storage locations. He has extensive experience in conducting in depth analysis of electronic evidence, and bringing the key relevant results to senior decision makers in an approachable, understandable fashion. Mr. Stumme comes to ADF following an almost 30-year career as a federally credentialed investigator, conducting complex and sensitive investigations within US military and civilian agencies. For the first half of his career, he served as a traditional investigator, and participated and led investigations into all manner of felony violations of federal laws and regulations. Later, Mr. Stumme specialized in the digital forensic and cybercrime aspects of investigations. He has participated in and led searches, seizures, and examinations of all manner of digital evidence. After retiring from federal civil service, he assumed the role as the lead forensic examiner and on-site manager for a contractor directly supporting the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Office of Enforcement's IT Forensic Lab.
