Dr. Sherrie Schmidt

Job Titles:
  • Staff Member
Dr. Schmidt grew up in Illinois and attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate studies. She initially pursued a pre-medicine degree at Iowa with the intention of becoming a pediatrician. She raised chicks and gerbils as part of middle/high school science projects and at the time of her career change, she had a variety of pocket pets happily living in her university apartment. After graduating from Iowa, Dr. Schmidt moved to Texas with her husband so that she could attend Texas A&M veterinary school. She graduated from Texas A&M in 1997 and started her veterinary career here at Buttercup Veterinary Hospital. She has been a part of the BVH family now for over 25 years! Throughout the years, she has enjoyed getting to know clients and their pets, practicing high quality medicine, and educating clients how to best care for their pets. She loves meeting puppies and kittens but also loves working with the senior pets to help improve their senior years. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and two dogs (plus a mouse, hamster and many fish!). She enjoys going to church, reading, and watching her boys participate in their school activities.
