Billy Viljoen is the CEO of a specialist Treasury Risk Management advisory firm. With over 15 years of experience in the financial markets, he currently acts as an advisor and trainer to some of South Africa's major corporate clients on treasury risk management.
He held senior positions at two of South Africa's major financial institutions both in South Africa and New York with the most recent being Director and head of FX Options sales at Absa Capital where he was responsible for the bank's FX Structuring business across South Africa.
He is considered a subject matter expert in Foreign Exchange Derivatives and obtained unparalleled dynamic hedging expertise as a corporate client advisor and derivative structure to clients located across Africa, Europe and the Americas.
During the numerous years specialising in Foreign Exchange he has developed an in-depth knowledge of identifying and managing FX Risk, as well as evaluating the appropriateness of various hedging instruments that are available to mitigate these risk
John is an independent consultant based in Johannesburg South Africa with specific focus on the Financial Services industry in South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa. John has spent the last 30 years in South Africa, having spent the first 25 in Dublin, Ireland
Between 1996 and 2011 John was an Executive for Standard Bank, based in Johannesburg, mostly with Financial Director responsibility for IT, Operations and some of the customer facing divisions of the bank. Standard Bank is among the top 100 banks worldwide. Previous career experience included four years as a Financial Director and Risk Manager in a global timber business, three years in a management consultancy, two years in an entrepreneurial financial services company, four years with Arthur Andersen South Africa and four years with Arthur Andersen Dublin
John is a Chartered Accountant, qualified both in Ireland and South Africa, is an Economics and Social Sciences graduate of Trinity College Dublin and has a Diploma In Management from Henley Management College, London.
