The Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women was established on September 2, 1992, and named in honour of Elspeth Heyworth. Each year the Centre holds a fundraising gala with its signature event called The Peacock Ball. The event raises funds to support its programs and services in the community... Our program has provided participants in both Toronto and Vaughan with the employment assistance that they need to become job ready... We believe strong women equal a strong community. We empower and build collective capacity. We believe that when we invest in newcomer and refugee women and girls, we help support individuals, our community and Canadian society. Even more importantly, this investment has lasting positive effects on the next generation.
