Ashley N. San Filippo

Dr. San Filippo is a board-certified glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist. She received her bachelor's degree in Integrated Life Sciences from Kent State University and her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University. She completed a medical internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She returned to Ohio to complete a glaucoma fellowship at The Ohio State University. During residency and fellowship, Dr. San Filippo contributed to numerous ophthalmology publications and presentations, and she continues to regularly speak at local and state ophthalmology, optometry, and ophthalmic technician meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Columbus Medical Association, and the Columbus EENT Society. She continues to be involved in the education of medical students and residents as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University, Clinical Assistant Professor of Optometry at The Ohio State University, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Ohio University. Dr. San Filippo has a special interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery as well as advanced technology cataract surgery. In her free time, Dr. San Filippo is an avid runner, fashion-lover, and Ohio State fan!

Elizabeth J. Cockerill

Dr. Cockerill hails from Greenfield, in southern Ohio. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from Ohio University and graduated magna cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Upon graduation, she completed an ocular disease residency at The Eye Center of Toledo. She formerly served as the Clinical Director at TLC Laser Eye Center in Dublin. She provides primary eye care to patients of all ages and has a special interest in contact lenses and low vision. She has become involved with the Ohio Special Olympics, organizing vision screenings for the participating athletes. In her spare time, she enjoys rollerblading, basketball, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Heather C. Koelling

Job Titles:

Dr. Koelling is a board-certified general ophthalmologist and has been in practice at Mid Ohio Eye since 1997. She received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She earned her medical degree with honors from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, and was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Upon graduation from Upstate, Dr. Koelling received awards for academic and clinical achievement, for demonstrating a continuous interest in music while maintaining high scholastic achievement, and for demonstrating excellence in the field of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Koelling fulfilled her medical internship at Mount Carmel Medical Center in downtown Columbus. She completed her ophthalmology training in the residency program at Akron City Hospital. Dr. Koelling served in past years as the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Division Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Doctors Hospital. She has served as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Doctors Hospital and as an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University; she currently serves as an assistant clinical professor at Ohio University. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, The Ohio State Medical Society, and the Columbus EENT Society. Outside of medicine, Dr. Koelling has interests in music and in the study of the Italian language.

Louise A. Doyle

Dr. Doyle is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology. She received her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and her medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She performed a medical internship and ophthalmology residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus. Dr. Doyle specializes in cataracts and refractive surgery, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology. In addition to her Mid Ohio Eye position, Dr. Doyle is the Medical Director of TLC Columbus. She remains active as an educator in her current positions as Clinical Assistant Professor of Optometry at The Ohio State University and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Ohio University. She is a member of numerous state and national ophthalmology organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, Ohio Osteopathic Association, Columbus EENT Society, Ohio Ophthalmological Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Doyle enjoys skiing, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband, Carl, delight in spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Rohin Vij

Dr. Vij is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and also a cornea specialist, specializing in cataract, refractive, and corneal surgeries. He grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Copley High School. He completed an accelerated, 7-year, combined bachelors, masters, and medical degree. He received his bachelor's degree in Combined Sciences as well as his master's in public health (MPH) from Youngstown State University, and his medical degree (MD) at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He completed an internal medicine internship at MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore. He then went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Afterwards, he completed a fellowship in cornea, refractive, and external disease at the University of Florida. There, he gained additional expertise in corneal transplantation and also refractive surgery experience (i.e. LASIK and PRK) while working with the military at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Vij has authored and published numerous abstracts and papers throughout his training and has presented frequently at national conferences. He has supervised and taught residents in training on techniques of cataract, cornea, and ocular trauma surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Cornea Society, and the Ohio Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Vij has an interest in advanced cataract technology including specialty lenses and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). He specializes in corneal transplantation including full-thickness penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) and the newer, partial thickness corneal transplant surgeries (DSAEK and DMEK). He is passionate about practicing safe, ethical care and wants to do what is best for his patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Vij is a die-hard Cleveland sports and Ohio State fan. He enjoys traveling the world and considers himself a foodie. When he's not traveling, he's spending time with friends and family, enjoying music, and binging TV shows.
