Mother & daughter, we started out with the paper & scissors -creating artistic, handcrafted greeting cards for all occasions. Then came along the rocks -receiving a rotary tumbler as a present, Taryn expanded the business and now creates unique, home-tumbled gem jewelry using rocks from all over the world, including some found locally, here, in the midwest... Taryn's gem jewelry starts with rough stones found in nature and only rough shaped with a rock chisel or saw. All the colors are 100% natural, no dyes or chemicals are used. The stones are tumbled in water, grit and polish (in much the same way a river would shape the stone) to smooth off the edges and give the stones their enduring, glossy shine (the stones have no artificial coating). Each 2½ lb. batch of rocks requires nearly one month of polishing.
