Square or ‘flat' range training helps to develop a skill set as it relates to shooting basics. These basics are stance, sight picture and alignment, trigger press and follow through. In addition to these must have basic skills, knowledge and skill must also be learned in immediate action drills for malfunctions, and fail to eject or fire scenarios. Square range training achieves this. For most this is where learning slows down or comes to a stop. All too often, individuals begin to feel comfortable with their ability to draw their firearm, get on target and achieve a result. They perform this task or similar tasks over and over again until they feel they have mastered it. It's at this point most stop pushing themselves to achieve more.
