WELLINGTON CHINESE LANGUAGE SCHOOL

The Wellington Chinese Language School (WCLS) is a community-based school teaching both oral and written Mandarin Chinese. Since its establishment in 1972, the school has grown to 29 classes and 505 students (2019). We offer classes at all levels, from beginner to advanced, from the age of four to adults. Classes are currently held on Sundays at Victoria University of Wellington, Kelburn Parade. All classes are taught by qualified teachers who are native Mandarin speakers... We welcome students of Chinese origin and others who are interested in increasing their knowledge of Chinese language and culture. We provide many valuable opportunities to practice the Chinese language and experience Chinese culture, including dance teams, a band, and special interest classes, such as Chinese calligraphy, painting, chess and paper cutting. Parents can practice Tai Chi (tutored by an experienced instructor) while their child is learning Chinese at the language school. Enrolments are also accepted..
