Ben Gander

Ben is a Chartered Tax Adviser, with a legal background and over 20 years of tax consultancy experience. Previously, Ben worked for six years in London for Ernst & Young and a smaller firm specialising in owner managed businesses. He also worked for Grant Thornton for a number of years covering most areas of tax consultancy. Ben provides the tax advisory and planning services offered by Gander Tax Services. His key skills are in problem solving, being personable and having technical know-how. Out of work Ben is a member of a few local amateur dramatics groups where he enjoys treading the boards or directing plays that he has written himself. He also spends a lot of time drawing and listening to all genres of music. He is also a black belt in taekwondo!

Debbie Watts

Job Titles:
  • Office Administrator
Debbie is our office administrator. She has worked in an office environment since leaving school, in particular working for Grant Thornton for six years. Debbie is our saviour, dealing with the day to day administration of the office! Outside of work, she likes to spend time with her family, walking in the countryside and enjoying time with friends.

Florence Richards

Florence originally qualified as a French Avocat specialising in tax law and worked at the French law firm Fidal-Lille. After moving to the UK, she retrained as a Solicitor in 2006 and as a Tax Adviser (ATT) in 2010. She worked at the Legal 500 Kent law firm Furley Page LLP for 12 years, where she developed the cross-border private client tax department. After a short career break, Florence joined the firm in October 2022 where she focuses on estate planning, trust taxation and international private clients tax matters. After work Florence enjoys playing - well, at least she tries - the viola da gamba and cherishes her vegetable patch. She is often seen walking on the Dover Cliffs and dreams that, one day, she will swim across the Channel!

Nicky Gander

Nicky worked for Ernst & Young for three years in London and Luton after achieving a first class degree in Taxation & Law. After having their first child, she worked for five years in PR & Marketing before re-joining the tax world in the family business and passing her Chartered Tax Adviser exams. Nicky heads up tax compliance in Gander Tax Services, as well as dealing with advisory work, PR & Marketing, Finance and the day-to-day running of the business. Nicky is very personable, thorough, organised and good at "getting things done". Nicky enjoys cooking and holding dinner parties which fits around taking the children to their various activities. She also sings in a band, Black Cherry Jam, and can be regularly seen gigging around the local area.

Nicky Heather

Nicky is a Chartered Tax Adviser and joined the firm in February 2018 from Martin & Co in Winchester. Nicky has been working in tax for over 20 years having started at Grant Thornton here in Petersfield. Since then she has worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton again (in Slough) but preferred working for smaller firms where she has had the opportunity to work on a variety of clients including farmers, actors and high net worth individuals dealing with both compliance and tax planning issues. After work Nicky can be found driving her children around and cheering them on at various sporting activities. She also enjoys walking the dog, reading and socialising with friends.

Paul Duce

Job Titles:

Paul joined us in June 2018 following a short career break away from tax. Prior to that Paul worked in tax for 15 years at various accountancy firms including Deloitte in Southampton, where he passed his ATT and CTA exams, and more recently for PKF Francis Clark in Salisbury. Paul has experience in personal, corporate and employment taxes and is always keen to ensure that clients receive a fantastic service with a "can do" attitude. Away from work, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, as well as playing and watching football (although he is a Southampton fan!) and also (occasionally) tennis.
