Kenneth Tollefson

Emeritus Anthropology Professor at Seattle Pacific University, where he has taught Anthropology since 1965; One of the founders of Sla'Hal Heritage Association; Devoted three decades of his life documenting the history and living culture of Duwamish people. Leading authority in Native American anthropology; Tollefson is Hiyash, the "foundation floor of the beaver house." This name was given to him from the Raven Beaver Clan of Alaska. Began working in 1985 to guide the Snoqualmie through the federal recognition process and in October, 1999 Snoqualmie regained recognition
