In April 2011, Amherstburg Land Holdings Ltd. (ALH) acquired the former General Chemical property in Amherstburg, Ontario. Site decommissioning and cleanup of the property took place from 2011 to 2018 and was completed in a manner consistent with Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) procedures and regulations. The lands can now be redeveloped for industrial or commercial use, which will provide long-term benefits for the community... The Amherstburg project objective, presented to the Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) during the negotiations, is to complete an integrated remediation and closure in a manner that allows for the productive reuse of the property.
