Avanda got its name when Timm, the owner, was inspired by the beauty of Vanda Orchids. We are a small neighborhood flower shop tucked in the heart of center city Philadelphia on the south side of Rittenhouse Square (next door to the Metropolitan Bakery). Timm and her late husband, Chet, first opened Avanda's doors on Valentine's Day in 1991.
