BROWN DOG - Key Persons

Erin Spencer

Erin started working as a veterinary assistant in 1998 in a small general practice. She quickly realized this was the field for her and enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at North Shore Community College the following year. In 2000, while still in school Erin began working at an emergency hospital on the North Shore and shortly after transferred to MassVet Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA where she found her love of Emergency Medicine. Over the next 12 years, Erin moved from ER technician to supervisor of the ECC department to Technician Manager for the hospital. She oversaw over 90 technicians in her capacity as Technician Manager. Her responsibilities included scheduling and performance reviews as well as real time training and continuing education of the technician team. Erin also enjoys public speaking and has given talks for IVG, Inc.'s Technician Lecture Series and Symposium, regional VMA and VTA conferences, and as a Pfizer continuing education speaker. In 2012, Erin decided to focus her career on education and training. She currently works closely with the HSVMA-RAVS organization as a staff consultant. In this capacity she spends several weeks a year "in the field" helping to carry out free spay/neuter clinics in underserved communities on Reservations. Erin's role in these clinics is to coordinate the anesthesia of each patient (usually 30-50 per day) and train the veterinary students (who are assigned to monitor the patients' anesthesia) on anesthesia principles and basics. Putting all of her varied experience to use in helping veterinary teams reach their full potential is an exciting prospect for Erin!

Lexi Spencer

Lexi and Erin found each other in 2005 when Lexi was 10 months old. During their 12 years together, Lexi had a stint as an agility dog where she earned her Level 1 CPE Title, enjoyed camping and time in Nova Scotia, and was all around the sweetest dog ever! Her cuddles and kisses were unparalleled and she is missed ever day.
