Chesapeake Grounds Inc. is a second generation family owned business. Founded in 1978 by James and Betty Clifton trading as James M. Clifton and Co. Our niche market at that time was federal grounds maintenance contracts. We spent the next 22 years providing the federal government with the highest quality grounds maintenance services possible. The services we provided included: Grounds maintenance services, Turf and Ornamental maintenance programs, total tree care, landscape design and installation, applying industrial herbicides, and clearing and grading. As government budgets started to decrease we found that no matter how good we did our job, there was always someone cheaper and the quality of our work no longer mattered. We were eventually forced out of the market we specialized in because we would not compromise our work standards...
