Amanda Evans

Amanda is an enrolled agent (E.A) and paralegal with Green & Sklarz LLC. As an E.A., Amanda is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels-examination, collection, and appeals-of the Internal Revenue Service. Amanda assists in both the tax representation and bankruptcy practice groups at the firm. Amanda brings nearly 8 years of experience working for the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) where she coordinated educational seminars for attorneys throughout Connecticut. She also managed the CBA's attorney board certification program. Amanda is the current Secretary of the Connecticut Society of Enrolled Agents and an associate member of the Connecticut Bar Association. She was a presenter at the 2016 New England IRS Representation Conference on issues surrounding representation of an innocent spouse and the 2017 New England IRS Representation Conference on IRS Offers-in-Compromise. In 2019, she presented at the New England IRS Representation Conference on Offers & Installment Agreements and focused her discussion on how to handle business assets. Joanna M. Kornafel

Joanna has extensive experience handling all aspects of bankruptcies and workouts, representing secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, bankruptcy trustees, and acquirers of businesses in Chapter 11 bankruptcies. In addition, she has represented clients in state and federal courts and has prosecuted and defended evidentiary hearings related to applications for preliminary injunctions, applications for prejudgment remedy, and contested matters in bankruptcy court. Joanna is actively involved in the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA). She currently serves as the Legislative Liaison for the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section and Senior Advisor for the Young Lawyers Section. Joanna sits on the boards of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and the New England Bar Association (NEBA). Kenneth Rosenthal

Ken is Of Counsel to Green & Sklarz LLC. He has more than thirty-five years of experience in federal and state courts, and is equally well-versed in civil and criminal litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. In addition to Connecticut, Ken has been admitted (on a pro hac basis) to handle cases in Florida, Illinois, Maine, New Jersey and New York. Ken was brought to the law by a strong commitment to justice, and righting injustice, which continues to inspire his daily work on behalf of his clients. He is cognizant of the tremendous privilege and responsibility he bears in doing this work. He has a profound passion for grappling legal and factual issues, as well as marshalling facts and the law to achieve optimum results for his clients. For Ken, the most rewarding part of his career is being able to help his clients resolve their problems and choose the best path forward. Kristen focuses her practice on trust and estate planning, asset protection, special needs and long-term care planning, business succession planning, and probate. Kristen also handles residential and commercial real estate transactions. Kristen provides services to individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners. She assists clients with wealth transfer strategies designed to minimize overall estate tax while protecting beneficiaries from creditors. Kristen is experienced in drafting wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, buy-sell agreements, and other estate and business planning documents. Lisa Perkins joined Green & Sklarz after more than 17 years with the U.S. Department of Justice. She worked for five years as a trial attorney in the Western Criminal Enforcement Section of the Tax Division, prosecuting tax crimes in the western half of the United States, then moved to Connecticut. Until January 2015, she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Hartford, handling both civil and criminal litigation in federal court on behalf of the U.S. government. Her caseload included tax and financial crimes, immigration, employment discrimination, medical malpractice, Freedom of Information Act litigation and civil rights cases. Attorney Perkins is also an Assistant Clinical Professor and Associate Director of the Tax Clinic at UConn School of Law, where she supervises law students who represent low-income taxpayers before the IRS and in Tax Court. Attorney Perkins has established a record of convincing government agents and attorneys to forgo criminal charges and civilly resolve many cases. In those cases where it was necessary for clients to either go to trial or plead guilty, Lisa has an exceptional track record of obtaining below guidelines sentences for clients. Mark Sklarz

Mark Sklarz is a partner with Green & Sklarz LLC. For over 50 years, Mark Sklarz has advised companies of all sizes through hundreds of sophisticated transactions. Since being admitted in Connecticut in 1970, Mark has counseled businesses in all types of transactions, advised business entities and real estate developers on governance structure, developed efficient tax strategy for family and generational transfer of business interests, and provided succession tax planning. Mark has extensive experience in counseling developers in multiple commercial projects, including land use, construction, financing, and regulatory aspects of office and retail complexes, university residential halls, shopping centers, and industrial parks. One of his most notable experiences was the longtime representation of New Haven-based Starter Corporation, a sports clothing manufacturer which was the pioneer of the sports apparel licensing industry. From 1979 through 1999 Starter was either an exclusive or major licensee and on the field supplier of apparel and uniforms for Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, colleges and universities throughout North America. Starter was also a licensee and supplier for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games. Mark represented Starter in negotiations with the leagues and colleges and counseled the company through the IPO that helped the company expand its distribution throughout 25 countries. Mark is a past Chair of the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association ("CBA"), chaired a joint committee of the tax and business law committees which resulted in the enactment of the Connecticut Entity Transaction Act in 2012, substantially improving the landscape for business entities operating in Connecticut and encouraging new businesses into the state. Mark has also been active, including providing testimony, in the adoption of the current bill, unanimously passed by the 2016 legislature, to provide Connecticut with a modernized code to govern limited liability companies. In 2015 Mark served on a special task force appointed by Governor Daniel Malloy to recommend measures to attract businesses to Connecticut. Mark, a life-long resident of New Haven, is very active in local and regional affairs, having served as co-chair of New Haven Mayor Toni Harp's Transition Committee in 2013, charged with vetting candidates for administration positions, reviewing the budget, and surveying various city services and department needs. He also currently serves on the Tweed New Haven Airport Authority Board of Directors. Mark was inducted into the Connecticut Chapter of Junior Achievement New Haven Business Hall of Fame in 2015, recognizing his contributions to the business community. Mark is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs. He is an active member of the business law section of the American Bar Association and a member of the New Haven County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Tax Section of the CBA. Mark was a longtime member of the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee. Among community activities, Mark is past President and Chairman of the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, president of First City Fund Corporation, past president of Congregation Mishkan Israel in Hamden, CT, a member of the board of trustees and past chair of the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven, past president of the Jewish Community Center of Greater New Haven. He was a recipient of the 2014 Torch of Liberty Award of the Anti-Defamation League in recognition of his advocacy of civil rights and his community service in the Greater New Haven area. Rob practices primarily in the area of business litigation bankruptcy, bankruptcy litigation and appeals. In business litigation, he has served as lead counsel for businesses and individuals in numerous cases in both state and federal courts. Rob's litigation practice includes handling appeals. In the Bankruptcy area, Rob has represented a wide variety of interests in chapter 11/13 cases and adversary proceedings, including chapter 11 debtors, secured creditors, plaintiffs and defendants in chapter 5 avoidance actions, plaintiffs and defendants in non-discharge actions, chapter 11 trustees and creditor's committees.
