Dr. Michael S. Guss is an orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow surgery. He treats upper extremity injuries for patients of all ages. He is a clinical instructor of orthopedic surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds an additional Subspecialty Board Certification in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity. Dr. Guss has a special interest in carpal and cubital tunnel release, tendon injuries and disorders, upper extremity trauma, including fractures and reconstruction of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, wrist and elbow, and non-operative treatment utilizing ultrasound guided injections and therapy, including new and cutting edge biologic treatments such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). He also specializes in sports injuries of the hand, wrist and elbow, including elbow ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) repair with InternalBrace. Dr. Guss has been involved in numerous research projects studying hand and wrist fracture care, return to play and performance in athletes after surgical treatment and ligament reconstruction of the wrist and elbow. Dr. Belsky Emeritus, is a recently retired orthopedic surgeon whose practice was limited exclusively to treatment of patients with hand and wrist problems. He had practiced hand and upper extremity surgery since 1981. He treats all conditions, diseases, and injuries that affect the elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand for patients from birth through their elderly years. Problems he treats include, but are not limited to, arthritis, nerve entrapments, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, fractures, joint, tendon, nerve, and infections, Dr. Belsky has a special interest in sports injuries of the hand and elbow, thumb arthritis, Dupuytren's Disease, and resistant tennis elbow. Dr. Belsky Emeritus, is active in academic medicine, hospital governance, and his community. He has published more than 30 articles and chapters about diseases and injuries of the hand and elbow. He has given more than 100 lectures to the local, regional, national, and international medical communities. Dr. Belsky is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. National and international organizational memberships have included: American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons. He has served as Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Orthopaedics and as Governor of the American College of Surgeons, as well as Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for the ASSH. During his over 30 years at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Dr. Belsky he has been President of the Medical Staff and chairman of numerous committees. He was Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for 26 years and served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is presently Chairman of the Board of the NWH Charitable Foundation. Dr. Belsky Emeritus, served on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Family and Children's Services of greater Boston for 20 years. He has a special interest in providing services for people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. Dr. Belsky Emeritus, grew up in New Jersey where he attended Highland Park High School. He received his BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his MD Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. After his surgical internship at NYU-Bellevue Hospital in New York, and his surgical residency at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, he completed orthopaedic residency and microsurgery fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He completed his Hand Surgery Fellowship at Roosevelt Hospital in New York under the mentorship of Richard Eaton and the late. J. William Littler. Dr. Belsky's Emeritus, hobbies include fly fishing, road biking, golf, and photography. He lives in the western suburbs with his wife and children. Dr. Belsky has practiced hand and upper extremity surgery since 1981. He earned his medical doctorate at New York University School of Medicine and completed his undergraduate degree at Union College. After medical school, he did his internship and residency at New York University's Hospital for Joint Diseases at NYU School of Medicine. He was chosen to serve as Executive Chief Resident during his final year of training. He then completed the Harvard Medical School Combined Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Leibman is the hand and wrist consultant for the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
