Ayurvedic Dr. S.M.H. Wijesinghe served in the Department of Ayurveda as a senior physician and the Registrar of Ayurveda Medical Council in Sri Lanka. He early resigned and then was invited to the Gampaha Wickramarachchi Ayurveda institute of Kelaniya University as a visiting lecturer. At present he is conducting programs to develop the skills of Ayurvedic doctors in the government service by their request. He has written several books in Ayurveda for both Ayurvedic Doctors and Medical Students. Dr. S.M.H. Wijesinghe has done many researches on more complex illnesses and has come up with successful results in treating for the illnesses like Sarcoidosis, Parkinson's disease, Arthropathy, Bronchial Asthma, Diabetes, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Psoriasis, Multiple sclerosis, Epilepsy, Migraine, Hypertension, Cholesterol etc.
