With a degree in Web Development and Design and a background in customer service, Damien came to work for the family business in May 2015 with no prior industry experience.
Starting in logistics and retail (including a small stint helping mix custom paint orders), Damien has moved through different areas of the business including working in the Auckland branch for 6 months when that was purchased back in 2018, and focusing on hazardous substance compliance in the Hamilton branch for 2 years after this, before moving into his current role as procurement officer after our previous purchasing officer retired in 2020.
Damien's main roles involve executing a consistent purchasing schedule from our suppliers daily, looking after the 300+ brands that we have access to, while also supporting other staff with customer support. He still looks after our hazardous substance compliance, and manages our websites and marketing campaigns.

Dean Adamson (son of Allan and Joan and the first employee) joined the business as a sales rep operating out of a Toyota van. It soon became evident that the van was too small, so Dean took over Allan's truck, and Allan moved to a larger truck. Around this time, we also employed a part-time admin person.

Phoebe has a vast background in the decorative industry both in New Zealand and the UK. She has been a decorator herself, and has project managed plenty of jobs in her career. Phoebe has developed strong sales, marketing, customer relationship, operational and management skills over the last 25 years - including many years of experience running her own businesses in a variety of industries.
Coming to us in 2023 from Placemakers where she was an Internal Key Account Manager, Phoebe's skills and contacts have helped us to grow our decorative range, allowing us to support a wider range of customers. She has also worked for a few of our suppliers in the past, including Aalto (as a Key Account Manager) and Dulux (as an Assistant Store Manager/Colour Consultant).
During her spare time, Phoebe has been a board member of Massey Pony Club, organises fundraising events for mental health charities, is a talent spotter of young Kiwi musicians - organising venues and promoting regular gigs for them, a decorative paint artist, horse trekker, vintage era life-styler, classic car and motor sport enthusiast, and an animal softy. She is also a member of Women in Trades.
