Around the world the internet has become a powerful tool for communication. Email, forums, blogs, and social networks all work to bring people together, to disseminate information, and to foster societal change. Social networks also provide insight into current events as people post their opinions, quotes, information, and misinformation. Twitter is a prime example of this... On May 1st, 2011, Osama Bin Laden was killed by a U.S. attack force in Abbottabad, Pakistan. President Barack Obama made the announcement to the world late that night. Unsurprisingly, Twitter exploded at the news. Using software written in the Processing programming language I was able to collect 73,000 tweets that had "bin laden" as keywords.
