Bryan Kinderman - Chief Commercial Officer

Bryan brings 7 years of international business leadership experience from executive positions in several industries such as refining, chemical, petrochemical, mining and renewable fuels. In his role, Bryan will lead the execution of the international commercialisation strategy. He has over 30 years of industry experience in the customer-facing disciplines of marketing, sales, licensing, operations and technical service. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago, and a Certification in Business Excellence from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Jean-Philippe Laviolette - CTO

As Vice-President, Innovation, Jean-Philippe Laviolette oversees the development of Pyrowave technologies and its innovation center. He has many years of experience in the management of state-of-the-art engineering and R & D projects. Mr. Laviolette holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal. As part of his graduate studies, he worked in tandem with renowned institutions such as MIT and NASA. Subsequently, he worked for reputable companies such as Dupont and Rolls-Royce. As a researcher at Polytechnique Montréal, he has led several projects for international companies such as Total, Hutchinson and ReCommunity. In 2012, he joined Jocelyn Doucet to work on resource efficiency and to develop a technology using microwaves to break down molecules into their original components. The idea led to the formation of Pyrowave in 2014, a company that has developed the most advanced high-power microwave technology platform worldwide, today at the forefront of a new revolution designed to increase resource efficiency.

Jocelyn Doucet, CEO of Pyrowave, was honored last night by the Fondation de Polytechnique receiving the Innovation Award for his work at Pyrowave focusing on electrification of chemical processes. Jocelyn Doucet is a chemical engineer and an entrepreneur dedicated to the development and marketing of innovations in connection with the transition in the use of our non renewable resources to a circular economy business model. With a team of professionals under his leadership, he developed a patented technology-the Catalytic Microwave Depolymerization-for the local processing of mixed plastics, including polystyrene, into a raw material identical to the original feedstock, to be reused by the chemical industry in new plastics manufacturing. This innovation has an undisputable positive environmental impact, as it helps recycle materials found in soils and oceans. Mr. Doucet holds a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnique Montreal, where he has been an adjunct professor since 2011. As part of his education, he started a first company specializing in the scale up of chemical processes and developed several innovations now released on global markets. He then focussed on resource efficiency and led a team responsible for the development of a technology using microwaves to break down molecules into their original components. In 2014, this idea led to the creation of Pyrowave, a company which developed the most advanced high power microwave technology platform worldwide and is now at the forefront of the new revolution intended to increase resource efficiency. Pyrowave works in tandem with the largest stakeholders in the global polymer industry, including Total, INEOS Styrolution and America Styrenics, and is currently at the marketing stage in North America and Europe.

Johanne Sevigny

Johanne holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal and an MBA from the HEC Montréal. Johanne is Managing partner of the Ecofuel Fund and Vice President, Startups of the Ecofuel Accelerator. She boasts 15 years of experience in VC, financing and management of a cleantech startup and 10 years of operational experience in engineering totaling 25 years of various business experiences. Before joining Ecofuel in 2016, Johanne was a senior director at BDC. She also worked at Negotium, a technology solutions provider, as the head of finance and M&A. Johanne was a portfolio manager at Entrepia Capital, Innovatech Montreal and Multiple Capital founded in 2005 to manage the portfolio of Innovatech Montreal, an early stage venture capital fund based in Montreal, later sold to Coller Capital in a secondary transaction. Johanne sat on the board of several technology-based companies. Her experience also includes serving as the president of the Board of a fast growing RFID gaming start-up for two years. Earlier in her career, she held project management positions for ten years at SNC Lavalin and Dessau-Soprin.

Joško Bobanović

Joško Bobanović joined Sofinnova Partners in 2010 as Partner dedicated to activities in industrial biotech. He focuses on early stage deals in Europe and North America with applications in chemicals, agriculture, food, feed and synthetic biology. Joško sits on the boards of Metgen, Synthace, Cellucomp, Comet Bio, DNA Script and Biosyntia. Prior to joining Sofinnova he spent eight years in venture capital with iNovia Capital in Montreal, Canada. Prior to his venture capital career he created an internet startup and a software company. After completing his PhD studies Joško developed real-time ocean forecasting systems still used at Environment Canada for coastal ocean management. Joško holds a BSc. in physics from University of Zagreb, a PhD in physical oceanography from Dalhousie University and an MBA in finance and marketing from McGill University.

Nancy Simoneau

Nancy Simoneau, visionary, is at the head of Group Simoneau, a manufacturing company of industrial, institutional and commercial boilers. In 2001, she becomes owner of her dad's organization as well as Thermodesign, an engineering firm that develops a patented and innovative technology of boilers. In 2013, the group acquired a large team called Servitech Énergie making it possible for all the interventions required during a boiler's lifetime and solidifies the unique service of mobile boiler rentals. In 2016, Simoneau further acquired Sterling Combustion Canada and in 2017 opened a service and sales center in the Midwest of USA. In 2018, Tremcour was added to the group, which is a company that offers professional service inspections, preventive and predictive, using camera technology. Group Simoneau is one of the principal boiler designer and manufacturers in Canada, exporting its innovative products in more than 15 countries. Through her implication and passion, Nancy Simoneau was recognized with a silver medal at the provincial contest « Business Transfer Awards » for the success of the transfer of the organization. She was president of Table d'Action en Entrepreneuriat de la Montérégie from 2011 to 2018. Nancy received the award for Woman Entrepreneur, Large Company in 2016 from the Network of Women in Business of Quebec. She sits on several board of directors. Namely, since December 2017, she is member of the network of Fonds régionaux de solidarité FTQ in Montreal. She is also an entrepreneur-teacher at the Entrepreneurship school in Beauce, Quebec. Since May 2020, Nancy is Co-Champion of the YPO program at the London Business School for the past 3 years and has a mission to redefine this program so that it is more oriented towards entrepreneurs.

Richard Renaud

Richard Renaud is the Director of Pyrowave's pilot plant. A holder of a B.A. in Industrial Chemistry, he has worked in the pharmaceutical business, in operation management. Richard is mandated to structure the pilot plant's activities and operations, to implement Lean-based business processes and to establish ISO certifications and standards. He also makes sure the R&D activities comply with safety standards and procedures, in accordance with the strictest quality standards.

Sophie Morin - VP

Mrs. Morin cumulates over 25 years' experience in finance in the large manufacturing industry. S vice-President, Finance, she in charge of all operations involving optimisation of operations, accounting and controls. She also handles account payables and various financial activities to support the growth of Pyrowave. Mrs. Morin's career started as Finance Controller at Nabisco and Kraft. She became Head of Financial Control department at the Montreal's Casino before being appointed Director of Finance and Administration at Farinart. She has a rigorous, transparent and methodical approach to operations and finance and she was selected to build all aspects of controls and reporting required by the various partners. Mrs. Morin holds a Bachelor in administration from HEC Montreal and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She is a registered Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
