James R. Black

Jim Black has extensive experience in business and corporate law, with a particular focus in intellectual property, hardware, software and data licensing, and on-demand commerce. Mr. Black served as Executive Vice President-Corporate Affairs of Lyft, Inc. during 2013 and 2014. He frequently assists start-up entities in creating policies and associated documents for new transaction business models. He regularly advises management, boards of directors and entrepreneurs on a broad range of issues relating to their business activities and often serves as de facto general counsel for privately held clients. Mr. Black was a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine, LLP from 2009-2014. Prior to Davis Wright, he was a partner at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, Perkins Coie LLP, Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP and Steinhart & Falconer, LLP Mr. Black served as a Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable John Feikens, Chief Judge, United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan in 1985-1986.

Robb A. Scott

Robb Scott has extensive transactional experience in a wide range of industry sectors, including software, publishing, life sciences (including medical devices) and consumer products. He often acts as de facto general counsel or in an advisory capacity, guiding teams of inside and outside resources in formation, financing, growth-by-acquisition, operation and disposition of privately owned companies formed by serial entrepreneurs. Mr. Scott was a partner at DLA Piper for five years, where he was a managing partner of the San Francisco office and a member of the Policy Committee. Prior to DLA Piper, he spent his entire career with Steinhart & Falconer LLP, which merged into DLA Piper at the beginning of 2004.
