SURGICAL BOOT CAMPS

Commissioned by the Scottish Core Surgical Training Programmes as the introductory course for CT1, and included in the Improving Surgical Training pilot project... This year the numbers are such that we can no longer offer places to trainees from outwith the Scottish CST programme... Highland Surgical Boot Camps are simulation-rich courses run in the Inverness Clinical Skills Centre by NHS Highland and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. They are designed to give new-start Core Surgical trainees accelerated acquisition of key skills, that used to be learned by apprenticeship. These are non-technical skills for surgeons aswell as technical.
