Charity A. Barger

Charity Barger is an associate at Street Law Firm, LLP. A summa cum laude graduate of University of West Florida, Charity graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2015 and received her Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2018. After graduation, Charity was admitted to practice law in Virginia. Charity moved to Grundy, Virginia in 2018, where she fell in love with the small-town life and the community she serves. Her diverse practice focuses on insurance defense, appellate advocacy, general civil litigation, criminal defense, and domestic relations. She has extensive experience representing clients before both federal and state courts as well as before federal administrative agencies. Her experience includes successfully representing employers in all stages of the regulatory process from administrative hearings before the Office of the Administrative Law Judges with the Department of Labor to appeals before the Benefits Review Board and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a skilled litigator and successful appellate advocate who prides herself on maintaining a high level of communication with her clients. She also is certified to represent veterans in appealing a denial of VA disability benefits. Having grown up in the military and being married to a disabled veteran, Charity aims to help those who served our country receive the benefits they deserve. Charity is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia and all lower courts in the Commonwealth, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia.

Joseph W. Bowman

Joseph W. Bowman graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Art degree in speech communication in 1975, and received his Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University School of Law in 1978. Mr. Bowman is Of Counsel with the Street Law Firm, LLP, where he has practiced as a civil litigator for over 35 years. His practice focuses predominantly on insurance defense, and he has appeared in various Courts and tribunals throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Bowman is recognized as a leader in the field of Black Lung litigation.

Thomas R. Scott

Scott is the senior partner in the Street Law Firm, LLP, in Grundy, Virginia where he has practiced as a criminal and civil litigator for nearly 36 years. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Scott has also joined the full-time faculty at the Appalachian School of Law in 2005 where he serves as Assistant Visiting Professor of Law and General Counsel. Mr. Scott teaches Insurance Law, Legal Process and Trial Advocacy.

Tom Mullins

Tom Mullins graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in 1984. He continued his education at George Mason School of Law graduating with a J.D. in 1987. Upon graduating from law school, Tom had the opportunity to clerk for Judge Barbara Keenan of the Virginia Court of Appeals prior to her elevation to the Virginia Supreme Court and most recently to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Tom has practiced for over 25 years in both federal and state courts as well as before various federal and state administrative agencies. His practice has included both trial litigation as well as appellate advocacy. While Tom's practice has been general in nature, he has devoted a large portion of his practice to mineral law issues, both coal and gas - including both civil and administrative proceedings, as well as business litigation, real estate litigation estate law and workers' compensation defense. Tom began his practice in 1988 with Street, Street, Street, Scott and Bowman, the predecessor firm to the Street Law Firm, LLP.
