Nicolas Réhault studied acoustical, thermal and lighting engineering at the Ecole Supérieure d´Ingénieurs de Poitiers. From 1998 until 2009, he has worked as a project engineer in the fields of building acoustics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning in companies located in France, Germany and Switzerland. In 2009, he started as a scientist at Fraunhofer ISE and has been leading the group Building Performance Optimization since 2012. He is coordinator of several German and international research projects in the field of energy efficiency in buildings. His research focus is on the development of practicable methods and tools that support the digitalization and the optimization of the operation of buildings.

The main areas of research of Prof. Dr. Andreas Bett include solar silicon material, epitaxial growth of Si and III-V semiconductors, development of characterisation techniques for advanced solar cell devices and the fabrication of solar cells. Furthermore, he develops concentrator module and systems and is involved in field testing. He is also co-founder of the company Concentrix Solar which manufactures and installs CPV systems. In addition he is active member in the IEC TC82 WG7 for standardisation of CPV technologies and member of the European PV Platform WG3. He has organised several international conferences and served in many scientific committees. Prof. Dr. Andreas W. Bett is director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany and operates the chair »Solar Energy - Materials and Technologies» in the Faculty of Mathe-matics and Physics, University of Freiburg. He received the Dipl. degree in physics and the state exami-nation in physics and mathematics from the University of Freiburg, Germany in 1988 and 1989, respec-tively and the PhD degree in physics from the University of Konstanz, Germany in 1992. He joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, ISE in 1987. In 1993 he became the head of the group »III-V - epitaxy and solar cells«. From 2007 until 2016 he was division director »Materials - Solar Cells and Technology« and from 2009 until 2016 he was deputy director of the institute. In 2017 he was ap-pointed director of the institute.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christof Wittwer is the Director of the Business Area "System Integration" at Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg. Additionally, he holds an honorary professorship at the Faculty of Environmental and Natural Resources at the University of Freiburg. Upon completing his studies at the University of Kaiserslautern, he received his diploma in electrical engineering. Following a research collaboration with Fraunhofer ISE, he subsequently worked for "Ritter Umwelt," focusing on control engineering for solar thermal energy systems. From 1996 to 1999 he served as a research assistant at the University of Karlsruhe, dedicating his efforts to his doctoral thesis on "ColSim - A modular simulation environment for the development of control algorithms for embedded systems in power supply plants". In 1999, he returned to Fraunhofer ISE as a "Post-Doc", coordinating projects related to networked control systems for decentralized power generation. In 2003, he established the "Operation Management and System Control" working group, assuming responsibilities for personnel and finances. The unit grew rapidly and evolved into a department focused on distributed energy systems and grid integration by 2010. In 2019 Prof. Wittwer assumed the role of Business Unit Manager for "Power Electronics, Grids and Intelligent Systems" and in 2023 he became the Director of Business Area "System Integration", where he is responsible for the program management. Since 2008, Christof Wittwer has been a lecturer at the University of Freiburg in the international REM "Renewable Energy Engineering and Management" course. In 2014, the University of Freiburg appointed him with the title of "Honorary Professor", entrusting him with the "Smart Grids" lecture module. He contributes to the master program "Sustainable System Engineering" as well as the online master "Solar Energy Engineering", showcasing his commitment to educating future professionals in the field.

The key areas of research of Prof. Dr. Hans-Martin Henning cover technical energy systems for buildings and energy system analysis. He plays a leading role in the development of computer models for the simulation and optimization of complex energy systems and their application to investigate the development of national / regional energy systems including all energy sources, energy conversion and storage technologies and energy end-use sectors. Prof. Dr. Hans-Martin Henning is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany and Professor of "Solar Energy Systems" at the Institute of Sustainable Systems Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Freiburg. He is chairman of the Expert Council on Climate Issues of the German Government, member of the acatech (German National Academy of Science and Engineering) and member of the board of directors of the academy project "Energy systems of the future". Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Henning is chairman of the Fraunhofer Group for Energy Technologies and Climate Protection and member of the presidential council of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as well as spokesman of the Fraunhofer Energy Alliance. Prof. Dr. Henning obtained his PhD in physics at Oldenburg University in 1993. Since 1994, he has been working at Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, holding several different positions of responsibility over the years. In 2014 he was appointed Professor of Technical Energy Systems at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT and in 2017 Director of Fraunhofer ISE.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Schossig is Director of the Division »Heat and Buildings« at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg. Since 2016 Peter Schossig has been a lecturer at the University of Freiburg, Department of Sustainable Systems Engineering (Solar Energy an Energy Storage). Since the year 2022 Peter Schossig is the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the »International Renewable Energy Storage Conference (IRES)« annually organized and owned by the European Association for Renewable Energy (EUROSOLAR), Bonn. Dr.-Ing. Peter Schossig studied Physics (diploma study) at the University of Freiburg. He successfully completed his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in the field of architecture, Institute of Building Physics and Building Technology (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2015. He started at Fraunhofer ISE in 2005 as a scientific researcher and since 2017 has been responsible for approx. 250 employees in the departments »Energy Efficient Buildings«, »Heating and Cooling Technologies« and »High Temperature Solar Thermal and Industrial Processes«, research group »Characterization, Testing and Quality Assurance« with its accredited testing facilities, and coordinator offices »Heat pumps«, »Solar Thermal« and »Innovation Management«.
