Mike Corless, a qualified accountant, is an experienced training professional with 20 years of financial markets experience including corporate finance, investment management and buy side research experience. He qualified as an accountant with Grant Thornton, moving to Ernst & Whinney to work in corporate finance in 1986. In 1989 he joined Threadnedle Asset Management as an analyst and fund manager, where he achieved top quartile performance managing income and growth funds. In 1996 he joined Scottish Widows as an investment director, again achieving top quartile performance before becoming head of UK equities on the merger of Scottish Widows Investment Management and Hill Samuel. In 2001 he joined HSBC Asset Management as head of European equity research and was appointed global head of equity research and founder partner in 2004 with the creation of HSBC Halbis Partners. Since 2006 Mike has been a full time professional trainer and has developed and managed several major graduate programmes. He has developed a series of highly acclaimed training progarmmes across the accounting, valuation, financial modeling, private wealth and investment management subject areas. He has also trained a variety of professional examinations subjects including ICAEW, CIMA, CFA and ACCA based materials. Mike has worked as an advisor to the ASB on various financial reporting issues. Mike has developed a network of high quality freelance trainers that he has worked with who can be called on by Woolton Consulting as required.
