BEYOND BEHAVIOR - Key Persons
Growing up as the daughter of a Special Educator, Dayna spent many hours exposed to children with unique needs. Often she would spend time after school and during summers playing with her Mother's students and enjoying experiences with diversified populations. A unique learner herself, Dayna required her own educational variations and learned to negotiate a system not accustomed to her needs. She brings these skills to her professional life as well as an understanding of what children are capable of regardless of the perceptions of a system.
With over eighteen years of experience in the field of child behavior, Dayna has worked across a broad range of center, home, community and school based settings. Starting out as a para educator in an Autism Spectrum Classroom, Dayna recognized her passion for working with children early on in her career. As a result, she attained her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences in 2007 and her Masters of Arts in Psychology in 2010. In furthering her professional specialty with childhood behavioral challenges she is pursuing certification in Applied Behavior Analysis. In December 2011 Dayna finished her coursework and continues to work on completing her clinical hours in compliance with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. She plans to sit for her boards in May 2013 and may pursue a Ph.D upon its completion. In addition to her professional career Dayna volunteers for a local giant breed canine rescue, enjoys riding horses and spending time with family, friends and her two St. Bernards.
