Sunil was born and raised in New York City by his American mother and Indian father, who is from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Prior to starting The Bindi Project, Sunil served on active duty for more than 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Sunil was inspired to start The Bindi Project having become a father of a daughter and upon learning of the immense disparity in the ratio of girls to boys in India and the root causes.
