Welcome to the Botchwey Lab! We're at the forefront of regenerative engineering research at Georgia Tech, a field that seamlessly integrates principles of biology, chemistry, and engineering to repair and regenerate damaged tissues and organs. Our diverse team of trainee scientists, with backgrounds in biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry, immunology, and biomaterials science, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of this exciting field. Our research has significantly advanced our understanding of immune cell functions, bioactive lipid receptor signaling, and lipid-based biomaterials in tissue regeneration. We're currently working on innovative projects, including novel immunotherapies for sickle cell disease, strategies to treat volumetric muscle loss, and methods to regenerate critical-sized skeletal defects.
