Timothy C. Maples is a co-founding partner of Carvel Christopher LLP. Timothy's current practice is focused on corporate and business law, including commercial real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, leasing, general corporate matters and business counseling, and the drafting and negotiation of all types of contracts and corporate documents. Timothy's broad transactional practice encompasses such business sectors as real estate, construction, health care and medical devices, manufacturing, information technology, hospitality, telecommunications and transportation. He currently advises a wide variety of clients ranging from start-ups to large private companies. Timothy has counseled a number of U.S. and foreign companies, advising them in connection with a variety of commercial matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, technology licensing, software development, data storage, website development, structuring of operations and the negotiation and drafting of intellectual property agreements, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, consulting agreements, supply and distribution agreements, manufacturing agreements, commercial leases and executive employment agreements. Biography Prior to co-founding Carvel Christopher, Timothy practiced corporate and securities law with three large multi-national law firms in their Washington, DC and Cleveland offices. He also lived and worked in Thailand for over two years as a United States Peace Corps community development volunteer. Timothy has an extensive record of community involvement, which includes service as the chair of the Regional Council of the Fairfax County United Way. He has also served on the board of directors of the United Way of the National Capital Area, the American Sickle Cell Anemia Association, the Montgomery County United Way, and on the Development Council of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Timothy is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and the Business Law and the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Sections of the American Bar Association (ABA). He is a member of the ABA's Committees on Design & Construction, Purchase and Sale, Mergers & Acquisitions, Middle Market and Small Business, Private Equity and Venture Capital and Dispute Resolution. Timothy earned his Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and Sociology from Northwestern University (1991). He received his Juris Doctorate from the Northwestern University School of Law (1996).
