Dr. med. Markus C. Michel is an international consultant for hip surgery, active on a worldwide scale. His surgical activities have taken him to all continents, where he has gained extraordinary experience. For many years his main interest has been the hip joint, yet he never loses the holistic perspective, thanks to his broad and continued education in all related fields. Dr. Michel is not only among the pioneers of hip arthroscopy (routine hip arthroscopies have been performed at the Orthopaedic Center Münsingen since 1997), but he also developed what is considered the most gentle access to the hip joint: the MicroHip technique, used in highly specialized centers around the globe today. He has authored many scientific publications and has always endeavored to make this information understandable for patients. His patients' well-being is always his goal. Today, Dr. Michel is internationaly very active but still spends a singificant amount of his time in Switzerland. Beeing in Switzerland he consults in the Swiss Sport Clinic in Bern as well as at the Orthopaedic Center in Münsingen. Most of his Surgeries in Switerland he performes in Münsingen, close to Bern. He moved his home and his family in the meantime to South Africa where he is involved in different activities, mainly at the Tygerberg University in Capetown as well as in a private hospitals. His pation is to provide optimal treatment and care for all patients, whether they are suffering from arthritis or are top athletes. True to his motto: "Never stop moving!"
