Eric Wilcox was born in the small town of Warren, Ohio in 1979. Soon after, his parents relocated to the Tampa Bay Area. He is a local graduate of East Lake High School-Class of 1997.
Mr Wilcox finished his Bachelors Degree in Pre-med Biology in 2002 at the University of South Florida. From there, he attended Nova Southeastern University and earned a Master's in Medical Science and a Physician Assistant Bachelor's degree in 2005- graduating with honors. Post-graduation, he worked in Infectious Disease, Family Medicine and most recently Internal Medicine. He has been working under the tutelage/mentorship of Dr. Carlos Silva since 2007.
He dedicates his free time to his wife, Karen, and their three boys: Luke, Matthew, and Benjamin. Mr. Wilcox's hobbies include Baseball, Basketball, Football, Weightlifting, and Adventure mud-runs. He is a die-hard sports fan and expresses his loyalty to every Bay Area team.
Ines Elvira Ortiz is a Colombian-American business woman that has been been working with Dr. Silva since 2005. In addition to sundry responsibilities, she is the office manager and the backbone behind the day-to-day routine at the office. So if you need her, she is never out of reach. Just ask one of the attentive staff members sitting at the front of the office and they will connect you with her. She is primed and ready to focus on any patient needs or inquiries.
In 1993, Ines graduated from the law school at the Andes University in Bogota, Colombia. Later on, while she worked as a corporate lawyer in media organizations, she also specialized in telecommunications law at the Pontificia Javeriana University, also in Bogota. Additionally, in 1996, she pursued a Master's degree in business administration at Loyola, Chicago.
Still, Ines loves to play as well as work. Her hobbies include traveling and socializing with family and friends. If you would like to strike a conversation with her, she is also an avid tennis player and modern art aficionado.
Dr. Carlos Silva was born in Colombia, while his father was working for an American Multinational Corporation. Given the nature of his father's job, Dr. Silva grew up in several different countries including Brazil, Venezuela, and Colombia. He attended American Schools there and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
He attended the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he received a B.S in Biology. Afterward, he attended the Escuela Colombiana de Medicina (Colombian School of Medicine). Finally, he finished his training in Internal Medicine, including internship and residency at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, affiliated with the University of Illinois. He was both Resident of the Year and Chief Resident at that institution. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
He came to Tampa over 15 years ago after completing his residency, and has been in private practice ever since. He has privileges at St. Joseph's Hospital and Florida Hospital. He has a passion for his job and prefers to see patients in a way that includes their social, psychological, and biological wellbeing and not just the absence of disease.
Dr. Silva is married to Ines Silva, the office manager, and has a daughter. When he is not spending time with his family, Dr. Silva enjoys tennis, boating, and history.
