GREEN MILES LIPTON - Key Persons
Born in central Pennsylvania Attorney Shimel has resided in Massachusetts since 1980.
In over 30 years of the practice of law, he has represented numerous clients in the Courts of Massachusetts, including extensive trial practice in the District Courts, Superior Courts, Land Court and the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts.
Attorney Shimel has also practiced before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Department of Environmental Protection, and the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. He has appeared before Local License Commissions in many Towns and Cities in Western Massachusetts.
Prior to joining GML as a partner in 2016, he was a partner at Wilhelm, Shimel & King.
Attorney Miles has tried civil and criminal cases in the Pioneer Valley for more than 40 years. He has appeared before the First Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Court for the District of Massachusetts, the Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Superior Court, the Land Court, the District Court, and the Juvenile Court. He has represented clients before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and various Municipal agencies.
He has taught evidence, trial methods and advanced evidence at Western New England University School of Law; business law and constitutional law at Greenfield Community College; and criminal procedure at University of Massachusetts/Amherst Continuing Education.
He has published chapters in treatises on damages, civil trial practice, forensic evidence, and DNA evidence.
He has lectured throughout the United States about the gathering, preservation, testing, and use of forensic evidence in civil and criminal proceedings to audiences composed of high school, college and law school students; scientists; members of law enforcement organizations; attorneys and judges; and legal professionals from Eastern Europe. He has chaired and presented at programs for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education on DNA evidence.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the past Chair of its Jurisprudence Section.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation.
He was the First Assistant District Attorney for the Northwestern District of Massachusetts (Hampshire and Franklin Counties,) and served as a Special Assistant Attorney General.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Western Massachusetts Legal Services Corporation for fourteen years.
Attorney McLaughlin is one the most experienced anti-piracy Federal Civil Litigation attorneys in the United States. He has processed thousands of telecommunications piracy claims and settlements for the largest telecommunications companies in the United States. He has filed close to 1,000 Federal Civil Actions throughout the United States on end-user piracy claims, commercial piracy claims and claims against major dealers in piracy technology, hardware and software. This experience has given Attorney McLaughlin a wealth of experience in federal civil procedure. He knows the federal courts, the federal judges in the federal system of litigation.

Attorney Zenkert started his legal career as a Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) in 1977 as a trial attorney with Legal Aid of Detroit, and then moved on to Western Michigan Legal Services in Grand Rapids until 1981, when he came to Western Massachusetts. Since then he has been engaged in the general practice of law in Westfield, and has appeared before the United States District Court, Massachusetts Appeals Court, Superior Courts, District Courts, Land Court, Housing Court as well as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and various municipal agencies. Raymond is in charge of our Westfield office.
