Kari Lautjärvi

Kari has accomplished Doctor of Laws degree at the University of Helsinki with a doctoral thesis of corporate law. He also studied at Harvard Law School for Master of Laws degree which consisted studies in corporate law, international trade, conflict of laws, arbitral proceedings and negotiation skills. He has more than 35 years of experience as an advocate and partner in the leading Finnish law firms (until May 2020). He has been ranked as a leading Finnish individual in finance, banking, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions and corporate, inter alia, in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500 and IFLR. Kari continues his corporate advisory practice at Pro Veritas Oy, and he acts as an arbitrator both in international and domestic arbitral proceedings. Kari is known as an active spokesperson for pro bono activities in the Finnish legal market. He has been the President of the Finnish Bar Association and is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Finnish Bar Association´s Foundation. Kari is a board member in various companies and foundations. Furthermore, he is a board member and pro bono legal advisor of CMI-Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation sr and Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) ry, Finnish independent and non profit organisations promoting peace as well as preventing and resolving conflicts globally. Kari acts as the Ombudsman in Nordic Investment Bank (NIB). Kari has been awarded the Finnish honorary tittle Laamanni (Lagman) by the President of the Republic of Finland.
