MARTHA'S VINEYARD REFUSE DISTRICT

The Martha's Vineyard Refuse Disposal and Resource Recovery District was started in 1983. During the Spring of 1987, the District completed an extensive study that reviewed various solid waste management strategies for the island's refuse. Based on economic, environmental and technical factors, the District determined that disposal at SEMASS resource recovery facility in Rochester, MA. , coupled with an extensive recycling effort, is the most economical and environmentally sound solid waste management strategy for Martha's Vineyard with a contract renewal that end 12/2024 ... The District is made up of four town, Edgartown, West Tisbury, Chilmark and Aquinnah. 750 West Tisbury Road is both the main Transfer Station and the Edgartown drop-off center. The Edgartown Transfer Station proudly serves all residential and commercial clients on Martha's Vineyard.
