3. Guidance Curriculum- Guidance lessons on problem solving, empathy, impulse control, personal safety, and managing strong feelings are taught K-12. Guidance curriculum is meant to be a universal prevention program focused on reducing aggression and promoting social competence. Individual and Small Group Counseling- School counseling is generally short term and focuses on a specific need or issue. Groups are determined by parent and teacher feedback and generally meet for 30 minutes once a week... 2. High School Planning- 8th graders are introduced to a variety of tools to gather information about skills and interests. They use this information to determine high school choice and electives.
