Ashley is the General Counsel and Company Secretary at the Port of Newcastle, with responsibility for the legal, company secretarial, property, environment and planning business functions. Ashley joined the Port of Newcastle in February 2022 and brings significant experience in the maritime, logistics and engineering fields. Ashley holds degrees in Laws from Macquarie University and Engineering (Environmental) from the University of Newcastle.

Carol Cheng

Carol is the Executive General Manager of Board of Director and Legal Department and also the Head of Investor Relation of China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited (CMP). Carol has worked in CMP for 16 years in Finance Department and Legal Department and is the director of various port investments in Sri Lanka and Brazil. She has also actively participated in M&A activities, Financing activities, Investor Relation and Corporate Governance in CMP. She is a fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK.

Clinton Dines

Clinton was born and raised in Queensland and subsequently lived and worked in China for 36 years, 21 as President of BHP Billiton's China business. He was educated in Asian Studies at Griffith University in Brisbane and in business at INSEAD in France and has extensive experience as an executive in China and Asia businesses. Since 2009 Clinton has had an active career as a Non-Executive Director, currently serving on the Boards of Fonterra, Port of Newcastle, Zanaga Iron Ore and Freedom Road Travel. He was previously a Director of KAZ Minerals, Aurecon and North Queensland Airports and Executive Chairman of Caledonia Asia from 2010 to 2013. He is an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University's Asia Institute and is a Member of the Griffith University Council.

Craig Carmody - CEO

Craig joined Port of Newcastle as Chief Executive Officer in August 2018, building on extensive experience spanning the transport, maritime and infrastructure sectors. From 2014 Craig was Head of Strategy and Corporate Affairs at Svitzer, the towage services division of Maersk Group, where he was responsible for strategy, innovation and corporate affairs. While at Svitzer, Craig also led the regulatory affairs engagement with governments, port owners and port authorities. Craig has held senior roles in the Australian Federal Government, serving as the Director of Policy in the Prime Minister's Office, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Policy Advisor to Ministers for Infrastructure and Transport, and Workplace Relations and Employment. He served 10 years in the Australian Army, including the Special Forces, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and holds post-graduate qualifications in public policy, business management and industrial and employee relations.

Glen Hayward

Glen's responsibilities include wharf services, vessel scheduling, port cargo logistics, terminal operations, port security, emergency management, survey services, dredge operations and marine fleet management. Glen joined Port of Newcastle in 2014 as Operations Supervisor. Glen has previously held senior operational and rail freight logistics management roles at WSP and Aurizon.

Hugh Fitzsimons

Hugh is the Portfolio Manager of Gardior's The Infrastructure Fund (TIF), the Head of Macquarie Australian Infrastructure Trust (MAIT) and the COO of Macquarie Global Infrastructure Funds 2 & 3. Hugh is a Director of North Queensland Airports, which includes Cairns and Mackay airport, and of Australian Utilities Trust (AUT). He is also the former Chair of Hobart Airport and Oceania Healthcare (NZ) and former Director of Queensland Airports Limited and DCT Gdansk. Hugh has a particular focus on operating performance improvement, energy transition, capital planning and strategy. He has worked at Macquarie for 18 years in Sydney and New York.

Maciek Kwiatkowski

Maciek is an expert in port operations and development, with over 35 years of experience in six countries. Maciek is the Senior Ports Advisor to Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets in the Asia Pacific region. From 2013 to 2016, Maciek was the CEO of Deepwater Container Terminal (DCT) Gdansk in Poland, overseeing growth from 500,000 to 1.6 million TEUs and a 200m construction of a second deepwater terminal. His career in Australia included roles with P&O Ports in Melbourne and Sydney from 1984 to 1994. Internationally, Maciek worked in various terminals and rail companies including Vostochny International Container Services, SeaLand Russia, South Asia Gateway Terminal in Sri Lanka and DP World Callao in Pero.

Marie Omark

Marie joined the Port of Newcastle in September 2018 as the Executive Manager Corporate Services. Marie's portfolio oversees the strategy and operation of all corporate services including IT, human resources, safety, administration and executive support services. Marie is also responsible for the running of the CEO office. Marie brings with her a wealth of experience in corporate strategy, business transformation and change management, marketing and communications and executive services. Prior to joining Port of Newcastle, Marie held the role of Head of Corporate Services at Svitzer, the towage services division of Maersk Group. She holds a Master of Science degree in Strategy, Organisation & Leadership and a Master of International Management from Copenhagen Business School.

Matthew Swan

Appointed as the Port's Executive Manager Business Development, Matthew has responsibility for the commercial aspects of the large-scale projects Port of Newcastle is now pursuing. Matthew is also responsible for leading the growth and diversification of the Port's product and customer base, with a focus on long-term sustainability. Mr. Swan was appointed Acting Executive Manager Business Development in November 2020. He is responsible for leading the growth and diversification of our product and customer base, with a focus on long-term sustainability. He has been at the Port of Newcastle for 5 years, working across the Finance, Commercial and Business Development teams. Mr Swan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand, and holds a Bachelor of Finance/Commerce (Hons) from the University of Newcastle. Prior to working at PON, Mr Swan worked over 10 years in chartered accounting, predominantly in corporate finance completing mergers and acquisition, valuation, and financial modelling assignments for clients.

Nick joined the Port in May 2019 having most recently spent 12 years at Sydney Airport, which is Australia's largest and busiest airport. Nick performed a range of senior financial management roles, including four years as Head of Finance. With extensive experience in the infrastructure and property sectors, Nick has a track record of identifying trends and business levers to maximise asset utilisation and returns. He was previously a Senior Manager at global consultancy firm Ernst & Young and has a reputation as a strategic business partner adept at navigating a complex business environment where there are competing priorities. Nick holds a BA (Hons) Economics (Industrial) from University of Leeds and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Roy Green - Chairman

Until recently Roy was Dean of the UTS Business School, and previously headed a research centre at the University of Newcastle where he is now a Conjoint Professor and member of the Vice Chancellor's Business and Industry Advisory Board. Roy has enjoyed a career in universities, government and the private sector in Australia and overseas. He is currently Chair of the Innovation Roundtable at the University of Technology Sydney and the newly established Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Hub, and a board member of the Innovative Manufacturing CRC. He also chaired the CSIRO Manufacturing Advisory Council, NSW Manufacturing Council and Queensland Competition Authority.

Simon Byrnes - Chief Commercial Officer

Simon is the Port of Newcastle's Chief Commercial Officer. He is responsible for overseeing all commercial, planning, corporate governance, company secretarial and compliance management. Simon joined the Port of Newcastle in February 2019 and brings a broad range of legal and commercial expertise gained from working on some of Australia's largest infrastructure projects. He has always had a passion for transport and has worked in strategic roles for Government, and the private sector, across the road, rail, aviation and marine industries. Prior to joining the Port of Newcastle, Simon was most recently the Executive General Manager Aeronautical Business, General Counsel and Company Secretary at Hobart Airport which involved managing a multi-disciplinary team responsible for aeronautical revenues, legal, governance and risk management. Prior to that, Simon was a Special Counsel in the Major Projects and Construction Group at Clayton Utz. Simon holds degrees in Commerce (Finance) and Laws from UNSW and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tanya McDonald

Tanya joined the Port of Newcastle in September 2018 and is responsible for external communication, media, stakeholder, community, government relations and strategy. She has held senior executive roles in the Queensland and Commonwealth governments and in the private sector, with significant experience leading complex reforms, including building, education, infrastructure, industrial relations, resources, economic development and trade and transport. Prior to joining the Port of Newcastle, Tanya held the position of Executive Director, Strategy and Stakeholder Relations at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Nelson is the Chief Representative in Australia of China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited (CMP), a major listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Nelson has more than 30 years' experience in port construction, management and operations. Before joining CMP, Nelson worked in senior executive and director roles of various port terminals. He was an Executive Director of CMP from 2009 to 2012.

Zhenwu She

Zhenwu (Alan) She is currently working in China Merchants Port Holdings Company Limited (CMP) as the Director of Overseas Comprehensive Business Development. Alan has nearly 30 years of working experience in port industry, and has been at CMP for 15 years. He was previously a Deputy GM of CMP overseas department, Chief Engineering Officer of Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT), and GM of HaiQin Project Management Co., with extensive experience on various port investment, construction, operation and project management. Alan has Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering in Harbor & Marine Engineering from Chongqing Jiaotong University and Master Degree of Business Administration from National University of Singapore.
