Samantha Shoffner

Samantha Shoffner decided she wanted to be a designer when she was 13 years old and has never looked back! Combining her love of performance, theatre, film, and fine art, Samantha is a set and prop designer who received her BFA in Theatre Design and Technology with an emphasis in Scene Design from Penn State University, University Park. Located in New York City for almost 14 years, she spent two years at Google as the part-time Creative Designer for Facilities and she is currently a Professor at City College of Technology in Props and Paint, (has also taught Scenery and Graphics) while working on many freelance projects in theatre, film and interior design. Currently Samantha is freelancing in a variety of design projects in Props, painting, and Set Design. Recently she was the Set Decorator and Specialty Props for "The Heart," a short film premiering at Sundance Film Festival, written and directed by Malia Ann Obama. She propped Trouble in Mind and both Broadway productions of Slave Play (2019 and 2021), and is a proud member of IATSE ACT International. She also was the lead decorator for the August Wilson Lounge Lobby Redesign for the Slave Play Remount and designed an Apres Ski Lounge for a rooftop bar in Williamsburg. Samantha works in areas of theatre, opera, film, television, events, interiors, editorial and corporate. Samantha is always looking to meet experienced and talented assistants, art department, artisans, carpenters, loaders, and drivers, for both theatre and film work, and would love to hear from you (please tell me about yourself and your experience!) via the contact page if you're interested in any of these positions. Pay varies based on the project but often hourly or by negotiable project fee.
