Biography Dr. Joseph Purita, a pioneer in the use of the laser in orthopedic surgery, graduated from Georgetown University Medical School and served his surgical internship at the University of Florida Medical Center. Following completion of a residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as chief administrative resident, Dr. Purita joined the Boca Raton Orthopedic Group in 1981. Dr. Purita is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association. Dr Nicholas Lolatgis

Biography During his 32 year career in obstetrics and gynaecology, Dr Nick Lolatgis has played a leading role in many of the pioneering developments in women's health care; and today, is acknowledged as a world authority on devising and implementing advanced strategies for improving the success of treating all male and female infertility problems. Under his leadership and care, the recently formed Centre for Infertility Solutions (CIS) is now providing all couples with a highly personalised and pro-active approach to overcoming difficulties with conceiving and successfully completing a pregnancy through combining both Immunological and IVF avenues of treatment. Dr Nick Lolatgis is an Honorary Lecturer in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Monash University; a Director of the Monash Family Planning Service; and was a previous Director of the Epworth Endometriosis Centre in Melbourne.

Dr. Charles Mahl

Dr. Charles Mahl joins Tithon's Scientific and Medical Advisory Board Biography Dr. Mahl is a graduate of the Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine (Chicago Medical School) in Chicago, Illinois (M.D.) and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (B.A.). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and also a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS), and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (FASLMS). He is also Board Certified in Ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology (Diplomate Status) and Fellowship trained in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery. He is a Fellow and Charter Member of the American Board of Eye Surgery (FACES). In his second career path, Charles started learning and practicing ant-aging, Orthopaedic and regenerative medicine. He has been an active member of the Interventional Orthopedic Foundation, participating in the Wounded Warriors Program for soldiers and veterans. As a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Medicine (AAOM), he has participated in their medical missions with the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy and Regenerative Medicine (AOAPRM), he has lectured and proctored other physicians in Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Mahl is certified in Age Management Medicine and has completed Fellowships by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the Age Management Medical Group and the Living Younger System of Preventive Aging. George Kolios is Professor of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine at the Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece. He obtained his first degree in Medicine in 1980. In 1992, he obtained his PhD degree in Gastroenterology from the School of Medicine at the University of Athens, Greece and in 1998, his PhD degree in Pharmacology from the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Bath, United Kingdom. In 1990, he finished his Specialization in Gastroenterology and he first worked as Registrar in Gastroenterology at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, United Kingdom and then as Senior Registrar in the Gastroenterology Department at the Hippokration General Hospital, Athens, Greece. From 1998 till 2001, he worked as Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Royal United Hospital, Bath, and Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Bath, United Kingdom. Professor George Kolios is an experienced Clinical Gastroenterologist, and a very productive research scientist, with an extensive work in the area of immunopharmacology, mucosal immunology and fibrosis, mainly focused on the intestinal inflammation and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. His work has demonstrated that the mucosal epithelium could be a rich source of various inflammatory mediators, including cytokines, chemokines and nitric oxide, which are involved in inflammation and fibrosis, and that these pro-inflammatory systems can be modified by cytokines derived by T-cell population. In addition, his work has been focused on the biology and the role of gut subepithelial myofibroblasts in fibrosis and on the interplay between gut mucosal immunity and microbiota. He has more than 80 papers in peer reviewed journals, which have been cited more than 3100 times with an h-index: 31.

Prof. Fred Fändrich

Biography Professor Fändrich is the Director of the Dept. of Applied Cellular Medicine, at the University Hospital of Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, Germany and the founder of Blasticon, the owner of a patented technology which monocytes (mature white blood cells) from blood extracted from the veins can be turned into cells with programmable properties such as those in stem cell and in turn be used for diverse applications in diagnostics and treatments. He is the President of the European Society for Autoimmune Disease (EGAI) and is also one of five opinion leaders, World Transplant Society, Oxford, UK. Up to 2009, Professor Fändrich was a Professor of Surgery specializing in transplantation medicines. Vasilis Paspaliaris - Chairman, President

Vasilis has worked at and consulted for a number of pharmaceutical and biotech companies globally. Due to his innovation he has been the founder and director of seven biotech companies since 2000. In early 2006, he founded Adistem, Ltd in Hong Kong. After finishing his doctorate in pharmacology/endocrinology in 1993 at St Vincent's Institute of Medical Research at the University of Melbourne, he completed his post-doctoral fellowship at Pfizer Central Research in Connecticut. During this time he was given two scholarships from the Australian Federal Government, and the National Health and Medical research Council of Australia and two young investigators awards in osteoporosis research from the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society, and the International Society for Bone and Mineral Research. After doing his clinical training in Greece, he worked in combat trauma medicine in Africa where he stayed and did humanitarian work in Angola. In 2008, Dr. Paspaliaris received an Appreciation Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists for his groundbreaking work on adipose-derived stem cells in Type II diabetes and two certificates of appreciation from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine on his stem cell research and an investigators award from the Hellenic Thoracic Society. Dr. Paspaliaris has published over 20 papers, holds over 5 patents and given lectures in a variety of medical fields, mostly in stem cell medicine. He is currently a Faculty Member for the Masters degree program in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Democritus University Medical School and the University of Crete in Greece.
