WOODLANDS FAMILY CLINIC - Key Persons

Ann Hu

Job Titles:
  • Member of Family Medicine Clinic & Women 's Health
  • NCCPA Board Certified Physician Assistant
Ann Hu is an NCCPA Board Certified physician assistant with experience in primary care and bariatrics. Ann earned a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of California, Davis where she was awarded the Luther Marie and Davis scholarship for academic excellence. She continued her education at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut where she completed a Master of Health Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Prior to PA school, Ann spent many years working in different sectors of healthcare as a sports medicine EMT and physical therapy aide. She also utilized her background in dietetics and worked with nonprofit organizations focused on early health interventions for populations at risk for obesity and its sequelae e.g. heart disease and diabetes. These experiences inspired her pursuit of medicine and she strongly believes preventive healthcare, including wellness and integrative medicine, is essential to enhancing the overall well-being of her patients. In addition, Ann has acknowledged first-hand the importance of ensuring accessibility to quality healthcare services. Born and raised in Southern California as a daughter of Taiwanese immigrants and a low-income first-generation college student, she experienced the cultural, socioeconomic, and language barriers that underserved communities face when accessing healthcare. While growing up, her mother always introduced family friends as her "shūshu and āyí"-aunts and uncles. It instilled a belief in her that everyone is family and, as such, we have a responsibility to care for each other-regardless of background. As a member of Family Medicine Clinic & Women's Health, Ann is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care. She follows a biopsychosocial approach to treat her patients and always makes families an integral part of the treatment team. She strongly believes in patient empowerment-increasing peoples' understanding of their bodies and their diseases to help them feel ownership over the collaborative decisions made about their health.
