A Ventura County resident since 1969 and a former probation officer, I obtained a law degree in 1982 and began practicing law in 1983. I have confined my practice to Family Law and related matters. I am an experienced Divorce Mediator and I have been conducting divorce mediations for more than 25 years. I have been named "Problem Solver of the Year" by the Ventura County Family Law Bar. I am married with two daughters, a stepson and five grandchildren, so I understand what family means.

The Law Office of Edward S. Matisoff is an established and respected family law firm in Westlake Village. Early in my career, I saw the adversity and conflict that such a system promotes and searched for ways to find solutions through cooperation and sensible negotiations. How? I focus a portion of my legal services on acting as a peacemaker in divorce mediation.

Why did I choose to promote this approach? Family law deals with current disputes and issues, but the effects of the process itself and the outcome can last many years after the court issues an order or finalizes a divorce. I strive for solutions that foster relationships, facilitate successful co-parenting and safeguard the people and the things my clients hold most dear.
