BACKGROUND FILMS

Prague-based Background Films produces European arthouse cinema. It was established by Klara Zaloudkova and Mikulas Novotny to inspire, entertain and move the audience. Its productions include Poland's 2022 Oscar candidate LEAVE NO TRACES by Jan P. Matuszyński (Venice main competition, 2021), Mihai Mincan's TO THE NORTH (Venice Orizzonti, 2022) or the Czech New Wave legend Karel Vachek's COMMUNISM AND THE NET OR THE END OF REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY (Rotterdam, 2020). Feature-length documentaries include BLIND GULLIVER and HELENA'S LAW (both Ji.hlava, 2016). They're currently in post-production of Karolis Kaupinis' HUNGERSTRIKE BREAKFAST while developing and financing a slate of new exceptional feature films to come and shine soon...
