Samuel F.B. Morse's invention of the electric telegraph in 1837 was a revolutionary invention because it made long-distance communication faster and more efficient, creating a more united nation. As time progressed, people felt the need for reform movements that would allow them to communicate easier, further, and faster, resulting in reform movements such as new laws and inventions.
