Most approaches to peace focus on the aspect of the absence of war. I am in favor of a more global approach to peace, not just the absence of conflict but because security has to do with social welfare, democracy and rights for women. These are factors that influence the longevity of peace... I believe in the concept of human security as an integral understanding to peace which is supported by the United Nations, particularly the United Nations Development Programme.
