KAHN'S PRACTICAL SELF DEFENSE - Key Persons

Jeff Kahn

Job Titles:
  • Chief Instructor and Owner of Kahn 's Practical
Jeff is currently a 5th degree Black Belt having had the rare honor of receiving his first two Kenpo Black Belts directly from Mr. Ed Parker, Father of American Kenpo (empty hands). He has also received teaching certificates from Mr. Frank Ortega, First generation Kali (weapons) instructor under Leo Gaje. We have been running a Martial arts school in Greenwich CT since 1982. Teaching full classes, small groups and private lessons. Jeff has been, and continues to teach self-defense classes and seminars for colleges, corporations, Government agencies, women's groups, cities and towns. Since moving to Wilton, CT about twenty years ago, and finding a great need for Self-Defense instruction in this area, Jeff has also been teaching these skills in the Fairfield and Westchester regions. Jeff has always had great respect for the Traditional Martial arts. The beauty and grace of their movements, the strength and athleticism, their ties to and honor of the past. But the past is the past and we must live in the present. This is the reason Jeff teaches the way he does. To Jeff the ART of the martial arts is in the functionality. The beauty is in making a movement more efficient, useful and most importantly making it PRACTICAL. This is why he chose to put the word "PRACTICAL" in our name. Jeff's approach to teaching Martial arts and Self-Defense is always reality based. Based on logic and science, he will never tell you to do something "because that's the way we have always done it" or "because I said so". He will not ask you to do anything unless he can not only teach you and show you how to do it, but tell you why it is the best way. Qualifications May 1986
