Dr. Brian Tuai

Biography Dr. Tuai attended Ohio State University, College of Medicine after he received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at UC Davis in 1992. He completed his general surgery residency at UC San Francisco/Fresno, where he spent a year as a clinical instructor in the Department of Surgery, before beginning a private practice in Chino. He joined the Group in December, 2004. Dr. Tuai is a Board Certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who has extensive experience with advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques including robotic surgery. He is the medical director of robotic surgery at St. John's Regional Medical Center. Visit the da Vinci surgical system for more on robotic surgery. Dr. Tuai's passion is minimally invasive surgeries, especially involving the colon, stomach, gall bladder, and hernias. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Korean.

Dr. Joseph Eisner

Biography Dr. Eisner grew up in southern California surfing and playing tennis. In high school he was California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) finalist in tennis and cross country, led the local Red Cross and graduated in the top of his class. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and majored in Integrative Biology with a focus on medical ethnobotany, while playing for the university boxing team and volunteering in medical clinics for the indigent. After college, he worked for several years at a non-profit focused on advocating for children's literacy in underserved communities in Orange County, California. He attended New York University School of Medicine for his M.D. while volunteering at medical clinics for underserved communities and also performing research on orthopaedic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Eisner completed his 5 year general surgery residency at the University of California San Diego during which time he also performed research on blood transfusions and presented his research at national conferences. Dr. Eisner has been elected to the Community Memorial Health System's Surgery Committee and the Saint John's Regional Medical Center's Cancer Tumor Boards. He was the first in Ventura County to perform a novel hemorrhoid surgery, Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD), and teaches other surgeons the technique. He is faculty at Community Memorial Health System where he teaches in the general surgery residency program and is Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Western University of Health Science where he teaches medical students. In his free time Dr. Eisner enjoys surfing, rock climbing, camping, gardening and cooking with his wife Ashley, who is a Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist.

Dr. Patrick McCarty

Biography Dr. McCarty received his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington before attending the University of Washington School of Medicine where he obtained a medical doctorate. He completed general surgery internship and residency at the University of California San Diego. He went on to complete a fellowship in minimally invasive and foregut surgery at the University of Southern California. He has been awarded membership in the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. McCarty is a board certified general surgeon with a focus on minimally invasive general and foregut surgery. In addition to providing emergency general surgery and critical care, he has extensive training in surgical management of problems associated with the esophagus, stomach, gallbladder and hernias. He has expertise in anti-reflux surgery, including hiatal or paraesophageal hernia repair, LINXÒ magnetic sphincter augmentation and gastric fundoplication. In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and colonoscopy, he also performs surgery for problems of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus. He treats breast cancer as well as skin and soft tissue disease like skin cancer, melanoma and lipomas. In his free time, Dr. McCarty is an avid hiker/mountaineer, and he enjoys playing golf and making music.

Joseph S. LoPresti

Biography Dr. LoPresti has been in practice in Ventura County since July 2002, after having practiced in the Seattle, Washington area for nine years. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Stanford University, then attended USC School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at LAC-USC Medical Center. Dr. LoPresti is a Board Certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with extensive experience in a broad range of surgical procedures. These include advanced laparoscopic surgery-especially anti-reflux surgery, breast surgery, hernia repairs and colon surgery.

Timothy G. Bryant

Biography Dr. Bryant attended medical school at Loma Linda University and completed his surgical residency there in 1988. He then served a tour of active duty for four years at Edwards Air Force Base before coming to Ventura County in 1992. Dr. Bryant is a Board Certified surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons with 30 years of experience in the entire range of open and laparoscopic general surgical procedures. He graduated Medical School in the top 20% of his class and passed his Surgical Boards on the first attempt, scoring in the top 25% of the nation He also passed the Surgical Board Recertification, scoring in top 1% of the nation Dr. Bryant was cited for heroic action by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors for his leadership in efforts to resuscitate hospital fire victims in 1986.
