Tony obtained his BSc in Cellular and Molecular Biology from King's College in the University of London and then his PhD in Biophysics from the same institution under the direction of Peter Eagles. After post-doctoral training with Ray Lasek at Case Western Reserve University and Mark Black at Temple University, he joined the Department of Biological Sciences at Ohio University in 1993. In 2001 he moved to Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he is now a Professor in the Department of Neuroscience, Director of the Neuroscience Center Core and Neuroscience Imaging Core, and Co-Director of the Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology graduate program. Tony has more than 40 years experience studying neurofilaments and the neuronal cytoskeleton.

Mehmet obtained his BSc and MSc in Biological Education from Atatürk University in Erzurum, Turkey, his MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Istanbul Technical University, and his PhD in Biochemistry from Marmara University in Istanbul. After post-doctoral training with Jerry Mendell and Zarife Sahenk at the Research Institute of Nationwide Children's Hospital, he worked as a Research Scientist in the lab of Stephen Kolb in the Department of Neurology at Ohio State University. He joined the Brown lab in the Department of Neuroscience in 2022, where he is working on the cellular mechanisms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2E and on gene therapy strategies in mouse models of this disease. Mehmet has more than 15 years of experience in cell and gene therapy of neuromuscular disorders.

Paula obtained her BS in Biological Sciences from Ohio Northern University and her MS in Cell Biology from Case Western Reserve University. She has 4 years experience as a Research Assistant in the Department of Neuropathology and 4 years experience managing a DNA sequencing facility. Since 2004 she has managed the Neuroscience Imaging Core, where she is currently responsible for all oversight and training on our two confocal microscopes. Paula joined the Brown lab in 2009 and currently divides her time between managing the Imaging Core and the Brown lab, where she performs electron microscopy and also conducts her own research projects on neurofilament transport in myelinated axons.
