Adam Prideaux - Managing Director

Adam is the Managing Director of Hallett Independent. He has worked in art insurance since 1991. With considerable experience in art insurance, Adam lectures regularly to museums and galleries. He has also co-authored the Guide to Museum Insurance published by the Museums, Archives and Libraries Council (MLA) and the Association of Independent Museums' (AIM) Focus Paper: Risk Management and Museums. Adam started his working career at Spink & Sons, fine art dealers, in 1986 and has maintained very close contact with the art world ever since. He is passionate about museums and, as well as being a Founding Patron to restore the Watts Gallery, he is also a Trustee of the South London Gallery. He is a patron of Tate, the Chisenhale Gallery, Nottingham Contemporary, the Showroom and the Contemporary Art Society. He is on the board of the Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM) which is a networking platform for professionals working in the art world.

Caroline Webb

Caroline joined Hallett Independent in 2018 and is based in the Lymington office. Super efficient and with a versatile skill set, having her talents focused in a dedicated claims role has smoothed the process even further. She has a keen interest in modern and contemporary art, sculpture in particular. Outside of work she loves to spend time with her husband and two sons in and around Lymington and the New Forest.

Clare Pardy

Having completed an English degree and the Fine and Decorative Arts course at Christie's, Clare joined AXA Art in 1982 as a surveyor. During her time there, she held a variety of positions including business development, marketing and sponsorship and started and ran their global sponsorship programme for TEFAF Maastricht. She moved on to XL in 2005 and then in 2008 started the Fine Art and Heritage Department at Ecclesiastical Insurance. She joined Hallett Independent with a brief to develop Art, Heritage and Museum business in December 2016. She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and graduated from Birkbeck with a degree in art history in 2000, also completing the Attingham Trust summer school in 2015. She is particularly interested in 18th Century and Modern British pictures. She was a Trustee of Gainsborough's House Museum for 10 years and is an Omega member of Charleston as well as a friend and member of various other art organisations. She has written and lectured widely on art and heritage insurance.

Elena Carofyllakis

Elena is the Business Development Manager at Hallett. Elena began her art insurance career working as a high net worth Underwriter at Hiscox and in 2007 after spending a year in New York, she moved over to the broking world to work with Adam at Blackwall Green. Here she handled a wide range of both private and commercial accounts. Elena joined Hallett Independent in 2015 and previously to her business development role, was a client account manager handling a wide range of accounts. Always having had a keen interest in art, particularly modern and contemporary, she enjoys seeing new and innovative work as well as old masters and relishes being involved in an industry which creates new and exciting work everyday whilst also preserving and celebrating the past. Elena has a degree in Art History from Leeds University and lives in London with her husband and two sons.

Helen Hunt

Helen provides insurance and risk management advice to commercial galleries, artists, museums and private collectors. Working with both UK and international clients, Helen is well versed in dealing with the complexities of multi-location operations, specifically in Spain, China and the US and adds huge value by simplifying this complex process for her clients. Based in our Lymington office and regularly in London. She is an avid exhibition visitor and spends most weekends seeking one out. Helen has a degree in History from York University and is a member of PAIAM.

Joanna Bunting

Joanna has been with Hallett Independent since 2014, having travelled around the world for a year following the completion of her degree. She deals mainly with the commercial aspect of the business, which includes museums, exhibitions, galleries and artists, but she also handles private collections. She is super efficient and has a legendary to do list! She is based in the London office and loves making the most of all the city has to offer. She has a BA in Art History from Warwick University and is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute. She is currently working towards her ACII qualification.

Louis Pavitt

Louis joined Hallett in April 2014, initially as a client account insurance broker with a focus upon our private customers and fine art collectors. His role has since expanded to include additional responsibilities and internal management in being the firm's compliance, support and complaints officer. Having completed his education at an International School in France, he returned to the UK to undertake a Bsc in Natural Sciences and an Msc in Psychology, at the Universities of Durham and Nottingham, respectively.

Ludo Compton

Job Titles:

Ludo has recently re-located back to Yorkshire from London and is now developing the Hallett North book of business. An absolute all rounder, having cut his teeth on commercial (re)insurance in Africa, he joined Hallett in 2016 and handles all aspects of his client's insurances, from the initial advice, to the day to day running, right through to overseeing the claims. He frequently visits heritage sites, as well as modern and contemporary galleries. As a trustee of a historic house and its wider estate, he has extensive knowledge of historic houses and estates and their insurance requirements, as well as those of regional museums, dealers and private collections. He is a member of The British Museum and sits on the committee for The Young Old Masters as well as the committee for The Historic Houses Next Generation Group. Ludo has a degree in Art History from Oxford Brookes.

Lyn Parker

Lyn trained with a Chartered Accountants in Southampton and first worked in the marine Industry. In 1988, I continued with various marine companies including Marina Marbella, Offshore Powerboats and Princess Motor Yacht Sales. She joined Hallett Independent in March 2014 and continues to enjoy her work as Financial Manager and Company Secretary, in her home town of Lymington. Her interest in boating continues, but her great passion is for Classic cars, where she often attends meetings and racing events. Discovering the art world has been a new delight.

Nathanael Price

Nathanael's role is to negotiate and manage insurances for large private and corporate collections, galleries, museums and exhibitions in the UK and abroad. Since joining Hallett with a first class degree in History of Art and Architecture from Reading in 2007, Nathanael has completed an MA in Medieval Art at the Courtauld Institute and an AHRC-funded PhD at University College London, where he taught an undergraduate course in Renaissance Art. His art historical research interests are the Reformation-era controversy over sacred images, and the intersections between Jewish and Christian visual cultures in early modern Italy. This academic background informs a wide-ranging interest in ancient, modern and contemporary art and architecture. In 2021 he joined the board of directors of the Burlington Magazine. Nathanael lives in London with his wife and children.

Sarah Easom

Sarah joined Hallett Independent in 2016, bringing with her a wealth of experience. She began her insurance career in 1996 and shortly after moved to Blackwall Green, where she started working on high net worth insurance, alongside Adam. She remained there for 18 years, progressing to the position of Associate Director. She has forged excellent relationships with key insurers and is always abreast of developments in this fast moving and competitive market. Sarah prides herself on going above and beyond what would be considered a standard household broker's role and works exceptionally hard for her clients. She is particularly knowledgeable about the requirements of houses undergoing contract works and can help her clients navigate the insurance requirements throughout this process, which can be complex. Outside of work, Sarah loves travelling and spending time with her family - sometimes even combining the two!

Tom Smith

Tom joined Hallett Independent in 2021 as an Assistant Client Account Manager. Previously a private client account handler at an independent broker and also a specialist and auctioneer at Spink, his interest and knowledge of arts make him a perfect fit for Hallett. He also grew up on a Christmas tree farm, so is your man in December when choosing the perfect one. Tom has a degree in Classics and Ancient History from Exeter University. He lives in London.
