Annie Abell is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. Annie received her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Valparaiso University and her MFA from Ohio State University in Design Research & Development with an emphasis on Industrial Design. She teaches capstone design courses for mechanical engineering students, a product design elective course for senior- and graduate-level engineering students of various majors, and an interdisciplinary product development course for undergraduate students participating in Ohio State's Entrepreneurship & Innovation minor. Previously she taught in Ohio State's Department of Design and Ohio State's First-Year Engineering Program, and also has past experience working in prototyping labs. Her current scholarship endeavors are focused on investigating the ways in which students approach open-ended, ill-structured, or ambiguous problems.

Dr. Bharat Bhushan received an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971, an M.S. in mechanics and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1973 and 1976, respectively, an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy, NY in 1980, Doctor Technicae from the University of Trondheim at Trondheim, Norway in 1990, a Doctor of Technical Sciences from the Warsaw University of Technology at Warsaw, Poland in 1996, Honorary Doctor of Science from the National Academy of Sciences at Gomel, Belarus in 2000, University of Kragujevac, Serbia in 2011, and Honorary Doctorate from University of Tyumen, Russia. He is a registered professional engineer. He is presently an Ohio Eminent Scholar and The Howard D. Winbigler Professor in the College of Engineering, Director of the Nanoprobe Laboratory for Bio- & Nanotechnology and Biomimetics (NLB 2), and affiliated faculty in John Glenn College of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. In 2013-14, he served as ASME/AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, United States Congress, Washington, DC. He has served as Expert Investigator on IP related issues in the U.S. and International Courts. His research interests include fundamental studies with a focus on scanning probe techniques in the interdisciplinary areas of bio/nanotribology, bio/nanomechanics and bio/nanomaterials characterization and applications to bio/nanotechnology, and biomimetics. He is an internationally recognized expert of bio/nanotribology and bio/nanomechanics using scanning probe microscopy, and biomimetics. He is considered by some one of the pioneers of the tribology and mechanics of magnetic storage devices, nanotribology, and biomimetics. He is one of the most prolific authors. Dr. Agarwal received her BS from the JK Institute of Applied Physics (Allahabad), MS (Physics) from Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi) and her doctoral degree in Biophysics from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (Mumbai, India). She completed her post-doctoral training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY) and Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals (Mason, OH) and as a research scientist at the Air Force Research Lab (WPAFB, OH). She was a faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at OSU from 2003-2020, before joining the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Agarwal is a faculty mentor in three Engineering graduate programs (MAE, BME and MSE) and two interdisciplinary graduate programs (Biophysics and OSBP). She teaches courses in Extracellular matrix, Medical Imaging and Microscopy. Expertise Professor Agarwal's research focusses on extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling via the collagen receptors discoidin domain receptors (DDRs). We seek to answer fundamental questions pertaining to collagen fibrillogenesis and receptor function at the cell-matrix interface. Our approach encompasses a variety of microscopy techniques to understand the structure and function of the ECM in vascular diseases and bone remodeling. Another parallel vector of our research is to develop novel biomedical applications of atomic force microscopy (AFM). We have developed many aspects of magnetic force microscopy (MFM) to study iron-oxide nanoparticle behavior and tissue iron deposits in health and disease. Prof. Bilin Aksun-Güvenç is a research professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Ohio State University since September 2017. She joined the Ohio State University in September 2014 as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering after working in Istanbul Technical University (17 years) and Istanbul Okan University (3 years). She is the co-founder and co-director of the Automated Driving Lab at the Ohio State University. Her expertise is in automotive control systems such as electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, cooperative adaptive cruise control, collision warning and avoidance systems, cooperative collision avoidance systems, autonomous vehicles, intelligent transportation systems and smart cities. She has a long history of working as a principal investigator and researcher in several automotive industry projects for major automotive OEMs. She is the co-holder of two European patents on yaw dynamics stability control and yaw rate virtual sensing for road vehicles, respectively. Prof. Marcelo Dapino is the Honda R&D Americas Designated Chair in Engineering at The Ohio State University, where he holds the rank of professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Biography Tunc Aldemir received his PhD in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois and has been with The Ohio State University (OSU) since 1983. He served as the Chair of the OSU Nuclear Engineering Program at between 2007 - 2016. He is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and a recipient of the OSU College of Engineering Lumley Interdisciplinary Research Award in 2015 and 2020. Tunc Aldemir has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Reliability Engineering and System Safety since 2004 and has served as an International Atomic Energy Agency expert to various countries on research reactor safety. Expertise Tunc Aldemir's broad area of specialization is nuclear reactor safety, with emphasis on reliability and probabilistic risk assessment (PRA). His research in PRA focuses on systems which may be difficult to model using conventional techniques, such as those with significant hardware/software/human/process interactions, passive components and/or relying on natural phenomena for safety. He has published more than 250 refereed articles on various deterministic and probabilistic aspects of nuclear reactor safety.
