Dr Ayaz Chowdhury

Dr Ayaz Chowdhury is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist, having been in private practice in Westmead and Auburn for the past 14 years. He joined Auburn Public Hospital as a visiting gastroenterologist in 1999 and works in the same capacity for Healthwoods Endiscopy Centre in Granville, Westmead Private Hospital and City West Specialist Day Hospital. Dr Chowdhury special interests are diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, luminal gastroenterology and the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Training In 1998, Ayaz completed gastroenterology training at Westmead Hospital. The stint included four years of clinical gastroenterology training and one year of clinical and basic science research. Teaching Ayaz has been actively involved in clinical research. He twice received travel grants from the Westmead Research Foundation and Gastroenterological Society of Australia, to present his research at the major yearly American Gastroenterological Convention in New Orleans in 1998 and Orlando in 1999. Dr Guang Chen

Dr Guang Chen is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist practising in Western Sydney. He graduated from UNSW Medical School before undertaking post-graduate specialist training in gastroenterology and addiction medicine. Guang has an interest in liver disease but manages all aspects of gastroenterology. He is accredited to perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. Dr Keval Pandya

Dr Keval Pandya is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, providing quality services in endoscopy, luminal gastrointestinal disease and liver disease. He provides medical consultations at GastroHealth centres in Rouse Hill, Bella Vista and Oran Park. He performs endoscopic procedures at Norwest Private Hospital, Campbeltown Private Hospital and Minchinbury Community Hospital. He can also facilitate procedures at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. Dr Pandya completed his M.B.B.S from the University of New South Wales in 2012, graduating with Honours. He completed his basic physician training and advanced training in gastroenterology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, a tertiary referral centre and liver transplantation unit. He then completed a fellowship year at Blacktown Hospital with an emphasis on inflammatory bowel disease and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr Pandya is a GESA certified provider in diagnostic and therapeutic adult gastroscopy and colonoscopy. His endoscopic skills include cancer screening, management of upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, variceal banding and glue ligation, dilatation of strictures (oesophageal, pyloric, colonic and ileal), thermal therapy for angioectasia and radiation proctitis, polypectomy and percutaneous gastrostomy tube insertion. His services include the comprehensive investigation, diagnosis and management of iron deficiency anaemia, oesophageal disorders (including reflux disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis and motility disorders), dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. He has a specific interest in acute and chronic liver disease including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis and decompensated cirrhosis. Dr Pandya has completed a masters degree in clinical epidemiology at the University of Sydney and actively participates in clinical research, with several publications in peer reviewed medical journals. He has attended several national and international conferences and actively participates in teaching. Dr Pandya takes pride in providing excellent patient care, with a holistic, compassionate and multidisciplinary approach. He is bilingual and can communicate fluently in English and Gujarati.

Dr May Wong

Dr Wong is a gastroenterologist from Sydney. She has a broad range of interests in gastroenterology. She investigates and manages all gastroenterology conditions including functional gut disorders, bowel cancer screening, liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. She is dedicated to improving the health outcomes of patients and their families by providing medical care with a holistic and caring focus. She values the importance of communication and takes a compassionate, caring and attentive approach with her patients. She takes time to listen to her patients. She explains medical conditions, procedures and treatments comprehensively so patients and families have a good understanding of their health issues - often contacting them between appointments. Dr Wong was born and raised in Sydney. She studied medicine at the University of New South Wales. Following this she completed physician training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she continued her specialist gastroenterology training. She completed her fellowship in Melbourne at Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Alfred. She has a passion for research and evidence based care. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney looking at a novel agent in chronic disease in 2020. Her research has been presented both nationally and internationally and has led to multiple peer reviewed publications. She was also awarded a Masters of Medicine. She is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Dr Wong is currently a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital. She specialises in the diagnosis and management oesophageal conditions and reflux symptoms. She performs oesophageal manometry and pH studies to direct therapy and management of these symptoms.

Dr Raghu Gill

Dr Gill is an Interventional Endoscopist with extensive clinical experience in the endoscopic diagnosis and management of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. His clinical practice is enhanced by his interest in evidence based treatment of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, the bile duct, the pancreas and the liver. He has published widely and participated in research covering a wide spectrum of gastroenterology and liver related diseases and their outcomes. Dr Gill undertook his physicians training at the Royal North Shore (RNS) Hospital and Gastroenterology fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital. He went on to complete an Advanced Fellowship in ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography), EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) and Interventional Endoscopy at the premier Duke University Hospital in North Carolina (U.S.A) which is ranked among the best in the country; he was also a Faculty member at Duke University Hospital until his return to Sydney. Dr Raymond Kwok

Dr Raymond Kwok is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with international experience. He completed specialist training in Australia and then worked as a Fellow in Hong Kong (Prince of Wales Hospital) and a Consultant in Singapore (Alexandria Health). He accepted a Staff Specialist role with Western Sydney Local Health District in 2017. Dr Kwok has a keen interest in clinical research and has publications in major journals. Dr Robert Nguyen

Dr Robert Nguyen is a specialist Gastroenterologist. Dr Tasos Nicolaou

Dr Nicolaou is accredited by the Gastroenterological Society of Australia of which he is member to perform diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy. His practice encompasses all aspects of gastroenterology and Hepatology but he has a special interest in colorectal cancer screening, capsule endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, management of irritable bowel syndrome, reflux disease and Barrett's oesophagus, coeliac disease and resistant helicobacter pylori infection. Since early 1996, Dr Nicolaou has been in private practice as a consultant gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. He has had a private practice in St George Private Medical Centre since early 1996 and in June 2007 he took over the management of Healthwoods Specialist Centre. Doctor Chung graduated from the University of Hong Kong and received his training in general medicine and gastroenterology in Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong. Dr Tim Chung completed his specialist training in Hepatology in the Department of Medicine, University of Hong Kong. Dr Chung has an in depth knowledge of the research into hepatitis B using clinical and molecular biology techniques. Dr Tim Chung is proficient in procedural gastroenterology including GI panendoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP. He is an accomplished clinician and a keen researcher. He has extensive publications in leading international medical journals. Dr. Jo Chen is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist. She received her medical degree from the University of New South Wales before training in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Chen was awarded Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013. She completed two further fellowships to advance her clinical skills and knowledge in the area of inflammatory bowel disease at Concord Hospital and in Hepatology and Liver Transplantation in Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Chen also completed a postgraduate degree in Master of Philosophy (Medicine) in the field of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Chen provides up-to-date evidence-based medicine and provides personalised care to her patients. Her care focuses on the person rather than the disease. She provides individualised management plans for her patients with conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and liver disease. Dr. Chen is approachable and empathetic in her care.
