Armin Weiner - Chairman

The Chief Technical Officer of MedSoft, Armin Weiner is a global industry leader in Healthcare systems with strong analytical skills alongside extensive experience in providing next-generation Information System solutions to complex data and workflow issues. Involved in the industry from its infancy in the 1980s, Armin has spent more than 30 years in Israel, Europe and the US in IT development, including Scitex, France Telecom and the Dutch PTT. Having moved to California, he co-founded RealTimeImage, an innovator in the field of medical imaging with a global significance. After the company was successfully sold to GE/IDX Armin moved to Australia in 2010. He currently helps NSW eHealth in Enterprise/Solutions software design. It is Armin's personal yet modest drive as an innovator that has seen him take on the position of Chairman of Mind Shift. His self-belief in overcoming adversity as he established his successes in Europe, the US and now Australia is testament to what can be achieved with a healthy outlook and hard work.

Doctor Mark Cross

Doctor Mark Cross is a psychiatrist with over 30 years clinical experience. He graduated as a doctor in Cape Town, specialised in the UK, and has worked as a specialist in Sydney since 2005. He holds senior conjoint lecturer positions at the Universities of NSW and Western Sydney. Mark has special interests in sexuality issues, mental health in the workplace, and improving the care and quality of life of people with lived experience and their carers. In 2015, he received the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists NSW Branch Meritorious Award for his "significant contribution" to psychiatry. Mark is the author of ‘Anxiety' and co-author of ‘Changing Minds,' both published by ABC Books/Harper Collins, and was the Lead Psychiatrist in the ABC TV series ‘Changing Minds.' He is a well-respected speaker on mental health issues, a SANE Australia board member, and a passionate advocate on the importance of preventative mental health.

Dr Lars Madsen

Dr Lars Madsen is a clinical psychologist who has worked in both the United Kingdom and Australia in community and hospital settings. As well as his particular experience in working with anxiety (generalised anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder), trauma, sexual dysfunction and behaviour problems, Dr Madsen also has a keen interest in self-worth issues and specialises in the treatment of low self-worth. Prior to working in Australia, he worked within the National Health Service in England with clients with complex needs. He has published research in academic journals as well as presented at international conferences, and is a member of the APS College of Clinical and Forensic Psychologists. Dr Madsen completed his Masters degree in Clinical Psychology in Australia before obtaining a Ph.D. in Psychology at University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England.

Elizabeth Venzin - CEO, Founder

Elizabeth Venzin is the Founder and CEO of The MindShift Foundation and an advocate of preventative mental health. With a Master's in Business, Elizabeth has a successful career focused on events and business management that has spanned more than 30 years. Elizabeth started her corporate career with Qantas Airways as the first female management intern. She then spent several years with Thomas Cook Travel, rising to the position of Corporate Travel Manager. Later, having relocated from Melbourne to Brisbane, she established her own corporate events company. Successes included many one-off corporate events, the establishment and management of the boutique Farmer's Market at Sirromet Winery, and identifying and delivering executive relocation services. Driven by new challenges, Elizabeth spent five years as CEO of the Australian-Israel Chamber of Commerce, one of Australia's most prestigious and active national not-for-profit business organisations. In addition to strategic development and policy implementation, Elizabeth was responsible for the organisation of more than 60 large-scale, high-profile executive events with guest speakers that included both Australia's political and business leaders. In addition, she organised a number of political and business delegations between Israel and Australia.

Gavin McLeod

Gavin McLeod is Executive Creative Director of Ogilvy Sydney. He has over 20 years of experience fostering creative and collaborative cultures at some of the world's most innovative advertising agencies such as R/GA and AKQA. He currently manages a team of over 50 creatives and has long recognised the importance of positive mental health to unleash the full creativity of his people. Gavin has won over 200 industry awards for his work at international creative festivals such as the Cannes Lions. As a consequence, he has been invited to chair award panels at a number of these festivals and is a regular speaker at industry events. He graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town with a BA in Graphic Design. He also completed a Diploma in Art Direction at the Association of Advertising Agencies School, Cape Town.

Richard Nelson

Richard has extensive executive management experience in the not-for-profit health sector, previously holding the positions of CEO of the prestigious Queensland Alliance for Mental Health Inc, the peak body for the community mental health sector, and Deputy CEO of the Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia with experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy, planning, national reform and education. He is a member of the ministerial advisory group planning the implementation of NDIS in Queensland and is involved in national mental health issues as a member of Community Mental Health Australia. Richard is actively involved in establishing appropriate engagement strategies and planning mechanisms with Hospital and Health Services for the new Public Health Networks. Richard believes that outcomes in mental health management for communities depends on a powerful emphasis on prevention and early intervention. Recognising a problem, resourcing a solution and committing to that solution is essential. Richard is committed to strengthening the community mental health sector and is passionate about working towards a mental health system that is focused on people's recovery in their own homes.

Rohan Barrett

Rohan Barrett is a Director at Ernst and Young (EY), a leading professional services firm, in the People Advisory Services division. Their purpose is to build a better working world. Rohan is an experienced consultant and project manager with specialist expertise in people matters. He works mostly in the areas of organisational change management, talent management, organisation design and HR improvement. He has worked extensively in the health and human services sectors across government and non-government organisations, and has a leadership role for EY within the human services sector in Queensland. Rohan is a psychologist by profession and routinely applies his skills to organisational settings. He is passionate about a strengths-based approach to developing individuals and supporting the mission of Mind Shift, and in particular, working with young people.
